Supposedly, if you look closely at the maple leaf on the jersey, you can see some native artwork.

For most of those cities, no. But WPG has a high population of natives though.

Welcome to yesterday!

Though I am kind of excited to see how he does...

411ken 08-18-2009 10:25 AM

Am I the only one that thinks the artwork on the jersey are ugly...imo It makes it look cheap and it's like a jersey you can buy at Zellers or something.... *not that there's anything wrong with zellers*

Ikkaku 08-18-2009 11:21 AM

Yes, I do think it looks very cheap. I hope next jersey they bring it back to a solid red maple leaf.

Hondaracer 08-18-2009 11:52 AM

If we want to represent the Indians on the jerseys we should put big mac boxes and welfare checks on them

Not really racist! 08-18-2009 01:35 PM

^ :haha:

hm.. bert to wings..

Wow, that was random.......... and uncalled for. I'm not First Nations, but that comment even offended me.

What should we have on the jerseys then? Your ethnic background? What would that be? A drunken Leprechaun (a la King of the Hill)? Bagpipes and kilt? Crumpets and tea logo? Oh......... bugs bunny and Yosemite Sam, LOL.

just buggin ya, man.................

Harvey Specter 08-18-2009 01:50 PM

Wow, didn't see Bert going to the Wings again.

Doesn't matter what is on the jersey, people still buy the shit. It's all about money and it's a little perverse in a way. Oh well, it pays for some of the costs of hosting the Olympics.

Let's see what we could have had on the jersey.........

CN Tower - wow, classic.
Peace Tower - wow, another classic
Science World (Telus) - just wow
Maple syrop bottle
Mounies Musical Ride - wow again.........
Beaver, FTW!

Let's face it, sad as it is, Native Art is all that we have. We may be sick and tired of the shit, but for visitors, it's Canadiana - West Coast Canadiana.

I bet the Aussies are frickin' sick and tired of seeing Koala Bears and the Opera House on everything Aussie.

EDIT: BC Bud and taser guns...... those definitely needs to be on there. I don't think VANOC would approve.

Noir 08-18-2009 02:14 PM

I don't see what the fuss is about. Are you guys completely missing that we're still using the Maple Leaf as our primary symbol? That the Native Arts is just an artistic undertone to add flare to the logo and is in no way meant to be our primary representation?

And in any case, the maple leaf still retains the solid red colour except upon close inspection.

AzNightmare 08-18-2009 02:33 PM

I find the subtle native art in the maple leaf so awesome.
I would make it my wallpaper if it weren't for the ugly "HockeyCanada.ca" text
butchering that wallpaper. At least if they were gonna put text on it, make it smaller
or use a better font.

I'm too lazy to photoshop it out.

I don't think the Hockey Canada Logo should have been replaced to begin with. The lure of more money won out. And I guess that's OK, because Hockey Canda can sure use the money.
