This won't happen, I suspect they will move it to moscow worse comes to worse. But shit if it does, we will have what.. 2 years MAX to prep for ANOTHER olympics. Granted we have all the infrustructure put into place but it will require a lot of things to come together for that to happen.

Get more corporate sponsors, especially HBC (and make 10x more Team Canada clothing), promote MukMuk to official mascot, demote Sumi to being a sidekick and we're GOLD! :haha:

:eek5r:I BELIEVE!!!:eek5r:

it won't be nearly as much as the 2010 games cost us (we had to build a lot of new infrastructure [richmond oval, olympic village, etc etc])

but yeah, still, lots of money

ANYTHING to get what we had a week ago back.

I went out last night and stopped by Robson around 2am...and it hit me when I saw the streets completely empty.

You guys know that Sochi is designed and built by SNC Lavlin. If they fail or Russia fails to pay, I don't think the world will be ready to celebrate even if Sochi fails and it is hosted again in Vancouver (I honestly think the world will be embroiled in a war for that to happen).

Let it go, revisit the Olympics in a decade or 2. Say Vancouver 2030... or we can do Vancouver 2018.. since 18 is really lucky in Chinese.

Iceman_2K 03-06-2010 01:35 PM

just read in the chinese news paper that the olympic zip up hoodies are at 7x their original price....wow....and mittens are at 3x their original price..

Gh0stRider 03-06-2010 01:45 PM

Granville st was not as busy last night, but the sluts were out in full force. WIN!

That's just morally reprehensible.

Sochi will be ready for the Olympics. Russia will spend whatever it takes for the city to be ready for the 2014 games.

At this moment they do not have any venues ready in the city itself, and their mountain ski resort, Krasnaya Polyana needs a lot of work as well.

My company has a few projects on the go in Sochi along the boardwalk, as well as Adler and I can say first hand that they have a longggg way to go.

Senna4ever 03-06-2010 10:02 PM

WTF...

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/22/20100303...n-ca02f96.html

POLICE POWERS

Police will have powers to enter private homes and seize posters, and will be able to stop people carrying non-sponsor items to sporting events.

"I think there will be lots of people doing things completely innocently who are going to be caught by this, and some people will be prosecuted, while others will be so angry about it that they will start complaining about civil liberties issues," Chadwick said.

"I think what it will potentially do is to prompt a debate about the commercial nature of the Games. Do big sponsors have too much influence over the Games?"

historically has there been any case of a host country not being prepare in time?

Iceman_2K 03-07-2010 07:00 PM

i don't think so....I don't think that's ever happened....however, there's always a first time. Think of the amount of face lost by the Russians if that happened...

bengy 03-07-2010 07:10 PM

^ Which is why it won't happen.

Iceman_2K 03-07-2010 07:15 PM

If it did happen, do you think that instead of asking for resignations, Putin would be asking for firing squad executions?

no, he'll torture them KGB style

and then they'll pelted with marbles

Iceman_2K 03-07-2010 07:19 PM

If that were the case, i would think that most would die during torture, and the remaining ones have their organs taken out and sold on the black market to recoup the lost funds.
