thats nothing. We waited 4 fuking hours yesterday. The guy behind use sold his spot for $200 just before we went in. We couldnt find anyone to buy ours haha. Not really worth it, 4 hours, $20 cover, $8 for a small cup of booze, all for a tent full of doods. Totally not worth it haha.

Only one car for golden boy Evan Lysacek: Aston Martin DBS

http://a323.yahoofs.com/ymg/ept_spor...kzetCD6kQ5weaE

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — After his dramatic victory in men's figure skating on Thursday night, Evan Lysacek is the man with the golden medal. Now he wants to be The Man With the Golden Gun.

Lysacek's Olympic glory has given him the perfect excuse to indulge two of his favorite interests — cars and James Bond.

The American admitted exclusively to Yahoo! Sports that he plans to reward himself for his Vancouver exploits with a top-of-the-range Aston Martin DBS sports car, the vehicle of choice for the last two Bond films starring Daniel Craig as Agent 007.

"Aston Martin all the way, baby," Lysacek told me, rubbing his hands together. "Got to be the DBS. Just like Bond."

Lysacek currently drives a Range Rover and considered switching to a Bentley Coupe before eventually deciding on the Aston Martin, which starts at $269,000. After attending the Closing Ceremony and fulfilling some promotional obligations in Los Angeles, he will make time to visit a local dealership.

"We know how much Evan likes his luxury cars, and he will enjoy taking a tour of a showroom and test driving the DBS," said Gary Briggs, executive salesman of Aston Martin Newport Beach in Southern California. "The DBS has typical understated elegance and is very much the gentleman's sports car. It is a fine choice for an Olympic champion."

Lysacek can live the Bond lifestyle better than most. After all, he even has a villainous Russian nemesis in Evgeni Plushenko, the deposed Olympic champion who tried to belittle Lysacek for his refusal to perform a quad jump.

Yeah, downtown was a total zoo last night. Went out around 10:30 and Basically the entire Granville St that's fenced off was packed, and the usual Robson & Burrard and probably 2 blocks surrounding it was packed.

When I left (at around 12:30am), the Skytrain line for Granville Station stretched from the Dunsmuir entrance (it was the only entrance open), all the way around Dunsmuir, up Granville to almost the Granville entrance. Ended up walking to Waterfront thinking I'd get a better chance at getting on. However, that line stretched out the outside doors too. Ended up taking about 30 mins to get on the Skytrain from when I lined up which considering, isn't too bad seeing how long the lines were.

A result of the ruckus - liquor stores shut down early:

http://www.vancouversun.com/Police+f...601/story.html

Until the end of the Olympics (Feb. 28), all liquor stores in the downtown core will be shut down at 7 PM. I have no link for this, but this is what the cops told us before they shut us down last night.

Wow that sucks.

It's unfortunate that so many people here are so irresponsible with alcohol that the police & government have to nanny us like that.

Sorry guys some sad news

Tragedy strikes Rochette

The mother of Canadian figure skating champion and Olympic medal hopeful Joannie Rochette died suddenly in Vancouver Sunday morning, shortly after arriving to watch her daughter compete.

Canadian team officials said Thérèse Rochette passed away after being rushed to Vancouver General Hospital.

Cause of death has not been determined. She was 55.

Joannie Rochette was given the news by her father Normand at the Olympic Village this morning.

Officials said Ms. Rochette intends to compete at the Olympics, despite the shock of her mother's death.

More later

I don't think her mom would have liked that (her quitting), so she is probably going to do her best in her mother's memory. Like most athletes' parents, they often give up just as much as the athletes themselves. Athletes don't get to where they are by having good coaches and organizations behind them. They have the support of family, friends, and community.

RIP

Sad the mom had to go at a time like this.
