First time?

Do they let you take a picture with it or touch it?

Seems odd to me that the Stanley Cup would be at an Olympic event. I guess another thing to go see amongst all the glitter and glamour.

Yes, I got to touch it and take a photo with it. No licking, kissing or lifting it over your head lol.

all three Canadians through to the quarter finals in edit: not snowboarding, ski cross

Davey Barr just went through to the semis.

Shitty thing is the other two are in the same heat. Only top two go on, so unless it's a 1-2 finish one will be out.

MG1 02-21-2010 11:57 AM

DelBosco, a Canadian makes it through to the semis. Other Canadian took third and is out. So, two Canadians still in it.

I'm putting this up for those who are too busy kissing (jizzing on) the Stanley Cup to look at the scoreboards. LOL

MG1 02-21-2010 12:05 PM

Davey Barr is out....... he was the underdog, so getting this far was good for him.

MG1 02-21-2010 12:09 PM

Del Bosco makes it through. He fucked up early in the race, but made a comeback. He's into the finals.

Finals = Gold, silver, bronze, and one no show.

It's good odds.

Story of this guy: Skiing for US. Gets booted off team for Vansterdamning (pot and alcohol abuse). Sister sends him to detox to get his shit together. He now skiis for Canada (because we love pot smokers, lol).

MG1 02-21-2010 12:24 PM

HOLY FUCK!!!!!!!

Del Bosco was in third place, but fell for no apparent reason and lost.

Tragic..............

Would have finished off his story on a high note if he had placed.

Ranked number 2 in the world, but couldn't do it here. That's why the Olympics are what they are, I guess.

Hondaracer 02-21-2010 12:29 PM

Yea just watched the race

I'm as Canadian as anyone but I can't help but feel our athletes never fail to disapoint..how many games in a row can you say "oh but look how many 4th/5th places we have"

MG1 02-21-2010 12:33 PM

I think we need better psychologists........ a lot of athletes are choking. So much pressure on these guys. They need to hold it together. They have what it takes. The skills and abilities are there. Oh well.

Hondaracer 02-21-2010 12:57 PM

it looks like Bosco tried to get on the inside because he wanted better than a Bronze, i salute him for trying but it was too risky on his part

RRxtar 02-21-2010 01:22 PM

is there somewhere that lists where all the canadians have finished? i said it before and i swear to god at least half of our top 20 finishes have all been 5th place.

skyxx 02-21-2010 01:29 PM

You guys do have to realized that most of our athletes fund themselves compared to other nations (which are mostly funded by governments and sponsors). I'm pretty happy if they get top 5.

90 million dollars over the past 5 years went to own the podium

i'd say thats more than a large majority of nations have combined

passed years thats been an excuse but the majority of top tier athletes we have this games have been funded well

Hondaracer 02-21-2010 01:58 PM

oh and i forgot to post up about Montgomery there lol did anyone see after when he was walking through Whistler and someone came out of a resturant and gave him the big pitcher of beer and he started downing it? hahah fucking so great

orange7 02-21-2010 02:23 PM

$100 millions have been spent, so let's just hope for the best performance out of those canadians even though they may not win medals.

GO CANADA GO!

$117 million dollars invested over the last 5 years to guarantee Canadians not only get on the podium, but win more medals than any other country.

Canada has put more into athlete development for these games than any other country short of China actually farming athletes.

that being said, alot of our just outside the medals athletes are pretty young. i think 2014 will be a good Olympics

Great68 02-21-2010 04:11 PM

The program should change it's name to "Rent the podium"

IF they keep the program going after this. Problem is, the political powers in this country consistently operate in the we-want-results-now-or-it's-a-loss realm - they throw a bunch of money at something, and if it doesn't pay out instantly, figured it's a bad idea and shut it down (well, not always... if only that thinking had been applied to the long-gun registry).

Some athletes have to work for a decade before they manage to medal, so let's just hope whoever is charge of the program realizes that and keeps the money coming.

nack 02-21-2010 05:07 PM

i cant watch the game, put Luongo on now

skyxx 02-21-2010 05:15 PM

okay NVm.....

mc. 02-21-2010 06:15 PM

i hate the usa, running away with the podium and now beating us..... fuck them.......
