good explanation on Leno's part in that video finally.

I find it hard to blame Leno for this. NBC is the one screwing everyone over. Leno is just being oportunistic and doing smart business in taking the Tonite Show back. honestly, who would turn that down?! 10 years from now this whole debacle will just be a 'hickup' in Leno's Tonite Show legacy.

At the end of the day, I dont think anyone is really getting screwed in all of this other than NBC. Conan was screwed initially by it happening, but his popularity is going to go way up, and carry over to his new show. Kimmel and Letterman are getting tons of casual and new viewers regularly tuning in to see whats going on, and Leno is going to get his show back. And the biggest winner is FOX who is now going to have basically a top teir late nite talk show handed to them where they previously aired info-mercials.

I mean, I havent watched any of these shows with any regularity in years. And I've tried to watch every night since this all started now.

Jeff Zucker's interview on Charlie Rose: http://www.charlierose.com/view/interview/10824

Andy coming back was a bit awkward at first but in the past 2 months he's really hit his stride and picked up where he left off when he was on late night from 93-2000.

Too bad the show is ending as The Tonight Show has been finding its groove.

The problem with Conan is that many old people and simple minded people 'dont get' his comedy. When he does his monologue, the guys that don't get him says all he does is funny faces. I beg to differ. His jokes are always infused with snippets of references he acts out...think of it as a monologue done in the vein of the way Family Guy and 30 Rock cuts in and out of scenes to reference things.

Old people just don't get that. They don't like porn jokes or masterbating bear. They like safe Jay Leno. Mass American appeal. Which is also very boring comedy.

Headlines? Jay Walking? He doesn't even have to write this stuff!

Sometimes its not about the money, imagine working at a company for 15+ years trying to make a legacy and then getting everything taken away from you.

same thing that happened to Leno except those years were actually on the tonight show and not a build up in another show (conan built a legacy on late night and threw it away for the tonight show; leno built a legacy on the tonight show and it got it taken away from him by nbc)

but i agree with Letterman in that video above; Leno should have taken his show elsewhere to shove it down NBCs throat for getting rid of him but obviously like i said previously the money and probably a prospect of returning to the tonight show kept him there

I remember one episode of Late Night where Conan introduced stupid things that you could buy at the NBC Store. Well, he pulled out a masturbating bear bobble arm figurine. I was actually in NY at the time and ran out to Rockefeller Center the next day to visit NBC and try to find the damn thing and I wasn't the only one
