Conan O'Brien, NBC Seal the Deal for His Exit

Amid confirmed reports that Conan O'Brien will pocket $45 million to leave his 7-month gig as Tonight Show star, NBC on Thursday morning said that it and the red-haired host have reached an agreement for him to exit the late-night franchise – permitting Jay Leno to return to the 11:35 p.m. program he hosted for 17 years.

Conan's final show will air Friday, with Tom Hanks scheduled to appear as well as Will Ferrell (who was O'Brien's first Tonight guest last June) and musician Neil Young.

The "new" Leno incarnation of Tonight will debut March 1, and NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon will continue to air from 12:35-1:35 a.m. NBC aIso confirmed that O'Brien is clear to appear on another network as of Sept. 1.

The bad news: Triumph the Insult Dog will have to remain behind on NBC.

It wasn't supposed to be funny. It was supposed to be a middle finger to NBC. The fact that NBC had to pay $1.5M for a skit which you realized had absolutely no comedic value means it got you, but you completely missed it by a mile.

You were failed hard because the intention of the skit wasn't even close to being subtle.

StealthFighter 01-21-2010 10:57 PM

hahaha Mind That Bird wearing a mink snuggie while watching restricted NFL game. ahahaha $4.4 million

beats veyron mouse.

kkttsang 01-21-2010 11:17 PM

fuck nbc is so stupid connan is so funny, put jay leno in jimmy fallon's slot and fire jimmy fallon that guy sucks, but keep the roots tho.

Meowjin 01-21-2010 11:50 PM

^ Conan didn't get fired, he just stood up for what he believed in and left the company respectivly.
