Wax doesn't lat very long especially in winter Go for sealant if u really want protection.

I usually put my winters on in the first week of December. I've not run into snow or ice or particularly slippery conditions before then.

!LittleDragon 10-24-2010 03:40 PM

I'm putting them on first week of november. I noticed the rear end being a little twitchy in the mornings.

trd2343 10-24-2010 03:59 PM

I just picked up a set of used winter tires with steelies not too long ago. I'm selling this set of right after winter because I'm switching cars next year. I'm wondering if I should get them re-balanced or don't even bother with it since I'm only using them for one winter.

Just put mine on last night. Don't wanna run my summer tires in this kinda weather any longer.

alex.w *// 10-24-2010 05:55 PM

put them on today since the forcast shows rain for the next 2 weeks.

man what a difference it makes. no hydroplaining at all driving home today on the hwy.

on a side note, how do you guys maintain the steelies for winter? i heard people wax them to give them added protection. is this true?

as long as you make sure you spray off salt residue from the roads you should be ok....

spoon.ek9 10-24-2010 08:59 PM

yeah, i loved using my winter tires in the rain last season! sooo much better.

Mugen EvOlutioN 10-24-2010 09:17 PM

cuz they have deeper treads

GabAlmighty 10-24-2010 09:19 PM

Are you serious? You put your winters on already? I admire you dedication, but seriously...

Anyone? Is it worth it for one winter?

Thanks in advance

GabAlmighty 10-24-2010 09:52 PM

If they're already balanced just throw em on. If they wobble they get them balanced. Bingo Bango I solved your problem.

Do you plan on driving long distances? For me I would do it for the $10/tire that Speed Syndicate charges.

I was out driving today and I noticed my car being a little twitchy... being on summers, the heavy rain and the temperature nearing 9c, I'm not surprised.

Time is soon!

!LittleDragon 10-24-2010 11:04 PM

There was one year I bought a 90's Land Rover Discovery for $5k and sold it in the spring. In the end, it cost me nearly nothing. I was able to sell it for the same price I bought it for and I used it for 6 months.

lol.. that just reminded me of bingo bango bongo roberto luongo

haha..

anyways... get them done before the first day of snow cause shops are going to be super busy by then.

October is still early imo.

mine are on since my summers are bald. Its cold and rainy enough that the summers are starting to feel useless.

TheMatty 10-26-2010 02:20 AM

was planning on putting them on mid november, but a flat tire resulted in them being on as of yesterday

put your winters and trade me your oem steelies on your mismatched set! i want mine to be all oe! hahaha ;):p

Spidey 10-26-2010 06:19 AM

you might as well put them on now if you are purcashing them this year due to the fact that shops will all be busy when all the last minute people decide to get tires on the first day it snows... if you have them stored.. it can wait..

Mugen EvOlutioN 10-26-2010 07:48 AM

ya once first snow fall hits all the shops will be fully booked up and tires will be on back order
