do any of you guys think snow tires are overkill for the city? like burnaby/surrey. im planning on going to cypress/whistler but even the sea to sky highway is salted and plowed anyways? sure it makes life easier, but all seasons just have to drive more careful right?

Good luck getting to whistler with all seasons, seeing as they have already have road checks up there and have turned back people without snow tires or chains. Plus its only mid November..

Gh0stRider 11-14-2010 05:04 PM

i think i'll mount mine next weekend.

temperature is starting to dip down past 8

Do you remember what driving in 2008 was like?
You won't be able to go to Whistler without snow tires, even if you don't run into a check your endangering yourself, your passengers and other drivers.

MindBomber 11-14-2010 05:54 PM

Its official. Snow is in the forecast for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday next week.

TOS'd 11-14-2010 05:58 PM

^ Check back in a couple days, they are going to change next weeks forecast. Weathernetwork sucks at predicting next weeks weather.

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-14-2010 06:04 PM

yup most garbage website

looking at the site = not looking at it, because at the end? your knowledge regarding the next day's weather is still unkown.

what if i took another car to whistler? for city driving, would a 2010 x5 with brand new all seasons (2000km) do ok? reason i ask is because i was driving an acura tl in 2008 so i have no idea how the xdrive would perform

Synaptik 11-14-2010 06:35 PM

So be it, just don't travel to whistler during mid december until christmas. I don't want a noob driver, who thinks new all season tires can perform in snow and ice, to crash into me.
You probably just have cheap friends who can't afford winter tires for their parents vehicle.

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-14-2010 06:45 PM

^

werd so many cheap mofos are out there think their almighty all season AWD can stop in time

NO snow tires does not make you invincible, but at least its a start.

ANY snow tires > all season anyday

driving in snow/ice when you lose traction and hit your brake, all you do is hear your abs pumping and keep on sliding, inside your heart you know OH SNAP is the MOST miserable feeling while operating a motor vehicle

Lomac 11-14-2010 06:56 PM

I don't think I'm gonna bother with snow tires this year. No, it's not because I'm cheap; it's because it will be a moot point for me. The road in front of my house is never plowed and considering how low my car is, I'll never get it out onto roads that are cleared. :lol

moomooCow 11-14-2010 07:22 PM

^Sounds like you need a ski-doo :)

Gh0stRider 11-14-2010 07:44 PM

kids and their lowered cars these day *sigh*

chris walter 11-14-2010 07:44 PM

In 2008 my boss was driving a x5 in the snow. Brand new tires also. He Pulled into the parking lot and did a slow-mo 360 right in front of everyone

i tried changing my tires yesterday. I got the lugnuts off but the wheels were stuck! It never happened before in previous years when I was swapping on the winters and vice versa. I was able to get 2 of them off with some WD40 but the other 2 were too stubborn that i gave up so drove it to the local shop to get them swapped. Didn't want to kick or hammer it since it was on a jack. Any idea why it seized like that??

Mugen EvOlutioN 11-14-2010 08:07 PM

^

just kick the buttom of the tires really hard
than it will come off

the rusts in between the holes in ur rim and the bolt are rusted out and seized due to a long period of time without taking them out

its normal
