Coming down moderately hard around 41st/Nanaimo area. Looks like slush calibre snow though - gonna make tonight really ugly I think.

thumper 12-31-2016 01:31 PM

big white and fluffy here in north burnaby... it really looks like it's going to be new years at home :(

racerman88 12-31-2016 01:32 PM

I wore a big jacket with bball shorts and went out for lunch. Just like home, Vancouver weather :fuckyea:

fliptuner 12-31-2016 02:12 PM

Shitty. Anything that sticks is going to freeze tonight. Be safe driving home from NYE parties.

godwin 12-31-2016 02:14 PM

As long as you are prepared ie mounted snowtires and know how to use them.. you will be fine.

Silly freaking out because of a few flurries

Meanwhile I gotta pick up gf on Royal Oak, sweet

- kT 12-31-2016 02:23 PM

pretty much nothing in central richmond. was rain all morning, went out for lunch just now and changed to wet snow for about 15 minutes. back to rain now

gonna drive out to the north shore to grab the girlfriend in about an hour, any route to take/avoid? granville -> downtown -> lions gate, or would marine -> boundary -> 2nd narrows be a better bet?

(i'm thinking I already know the answer as boundary is always a gongshow when it snows, but last week i took granville to n.shore and boundary back, and boundary was about 10 minutes quicker, and clearer)

** edit ** nevermind, going by google maps boundary looks like an absolute nightmare

thumper 12-31-2016 02:34 PM

just how accurate is google maps? it's showing royal oak as still okay (ie. orange and green) despite what is being said on the radio?

but it is showing a red bloodbath around willingdon and kingsway...

DragonChi 12-31-2016 02:36 PM

My theory is that, since Google bought out Waze, they're using Waze technology to report traffic.

Anyone using Google Maps or Google Maps Navigation will have their data sent back to google to report traffic conditions. Essentially. I would imagine there are heaps of people using the app.

godwin 12-31-2016 03:11 PM

They are based on people's smartphone, taxi's and city.. I think they are pretty good real time.

JSALES 12-31-2016 03:23 PM

Saw a few cars stuck going up the hill on Royal Oak while my little dinky ass car just passed everyone :lol

Akinari 12-31-2016 03:29 PM

Snow is flying horizontally here in White Rock, pretty much a snowstorm.

see.lai 12-31-2016 03:34 PM

kingsway all backed up from highgate village all the way to slocan..
took me an hour and a bit to get home lol

kkttsang 12-31-2016 03:40 PM

So when do they start plowing the hilly roads. Anyone know how boundary is right now? From hasting to grand views

Bouncing Bettys 12-31-2016 03:41 PM

Currently on the Island (Parksville). About an hour ago it started raining, then big snow flakes for 10 minutes, to rain with flakes, to rain again.

Inaii 12-31-2016 03:43 PM

There were about a half dozen cars stuck on the little hill before 29th on Joyce (around 2:45). Rx7 made it up just fine in 2nd gear with a little bit of sliding.
