There were a few large branches that fell in my neighbourhood from all the snow the other night

murd0c 01-02-2017 11:06 AM

Woke up this morning with this across the street of my house... Didn't even hear it come down.

OK ... this is a bit odd.

Skating on Vancouver's icy roads - British Columbia - CBC News

So freaking icy. You guys with older folks tell them to be careful. Just fell on my hip walking the dog and it hurts like a bitch.

not only that the phyiscally disabled aren't doing that good either. they were showing on the news last night a disabled woman on a mobility scooter with her service dog not being able to navigate the snow and ice and got stranded on the side of the road, and it took a translink bus driver to stop and drag her out of that mess and get her back on the sidewalk :(

Group buy on hip protectors for RS aging population. The day I have to wear one of those is the day I drive off a cliff in a car built by CiC.

N.V.M. 01-02-2017 12:30 PM

This cold weather is tough on my knee. I have to take 1 ounce of bourbon every 40 minutes to make it bearable.

thumper 01-02-2017 12:39 PM

dammit i wish carwash businesses would plow their properties. i'm dying to get my car washed and all i see is pack ice at the two locations i tried in bby and surrey :(

Special K 01-02-2017 12:39 PM

Anyone know where de-icing salt is still available?

Damn, that's brutal. I'd like to hope that if any of us saw it that we'd help out as well.

Remember that we all age eventually and that could be you some day.

Langley HD has some Alaskan.. The CT at Marine Drive in Burnaby had plenty of the Stiflo stuff this morning.

HD also have some with free online shipping in 7-12 days for Snow Joe brand.

Also plenty on sale on CL. haha $275 / ton.. RevScene home owners group buy?

I was thinking the same thing. Went to Shine on Gilley this morning, just had to get rid of the grime and salt off the car. When you pull out, be extra careful ... the run off water from freshly washed cars does leave a nice trail of water which makes a beautiful ice rink. But now that the sun is out, it should be fine.

Gh0stRider 01-02-2017 02:01 PM

People cleared snow from the street and placed it on the sidewalk, wtf! Do they expect people walking to the bus stop to walk on the road?

egh, i did pass by shine at 7am this morn and it still has a snowbank blocking the entrance and exits from the plow... couldn't go if i even wanted to...

the washworld in whalley is a mess. i'm not sure they even tried to do any snow removal since it first started coming down back in early december.

HonestTea 01-02-2017 02:29 PM

Is Shine touch-less and do they spray the undercarriage as well?

jjson 01-02-2017 02:40 PM

^Shine is not touchless but will do under carriage

westopher 01-02-2017 02:40 PM

I'd clean my car with sandpaper before I'd go to shine.

Where do you take your E36 M3 to wash during the winter months?

I want to get the salt removed from the undercarriage. I was thinking of Husky or Esso since they have "touch-less" and undercarriage washes.

westopher 01-02-2017 03:01 PM

I go to the touchless wash near ironworkers in North Van. My condo also has an underground carwash that only closes for January/february so I usually do it there, other than these couple months of cold. Shell touchless on Dunbar and 49th(?) is a good one too. You have to ask for it to be touchless though.

no, its brush

yes there is undercarriage spray available

jtrinh 01-02-2017 04:02 PM

Which Husky has undercarriage wash? I dont remember seeing it at Marine and 70th.

The Chevron at Cambie and 16th has undercarriage wash with their ultimate wash.

thumper 01-02-2017 04:02 PM

i ended up going to auto x press on 6th st in burnaby. the more expensive packages ($12-15) include underwash spray, but the lot again is a skating rink...

StylinRed 01-02-2017 04:20 PM

Moron in a black mustang was trying to peel out and drift around intersections during rush hour... like seriously..

So your sidewalk is covered in a thick layer of Zamboni-slick ice. Now what? - British Columbia - CBC News

Ran out of bourbon.
