Woah Shaw actually listened to their customers?

Hopefully I can switch to the Broadband 50 from Extreme keeping the same price plan since they are similar in prices. These packages are actually pretty good.

Gh0stRider 05-26-2011 12:30 AM

but right now, i can't connect to shaw hahah

im using my phone to tether internet...android FTW

wern't they suppose to do that by federal law? lol

their priceplans still suck.

The government needs to starts funding novus to advance to all households in metro vancouver. then we can see real compition.

Manic! 05-26-2011 01:44 AM

So to get faster speeds than 25 Mbps you have to get TV. What type of crap is that!!! and why is Unlimited
100 and Unlimited 250 the same price?

Cause unlimited 250 is not available until they do their major upgrades. See the phase 1 and phase 2.

The bundling is pretty common. Telus does the same thing with their Optik service.

mrks 05-26-2011 08:42 AM

That's pretty good. I think I'll be switching to a Broadband 100 package.

TOS'd 05-26-2011 08:42 AM

Too bad they dont list the TV part of the bundles.

Like what is Legacy TV?

I still have the old Cable/HD bundle where as if I upgraded I would be put on the personal plan, and basically have to pay another $50-$60 to get the channels back which I originally had for much less.

It's not June 1 yet so I'm guessing we'll have to wait till then before the complete details are out.

StylinRed 05-26-2011 03:26 PM

i imagine legacy tv means current television customers?

why is there a difference between Shaw Extreme and Broadband 50 ?? there must be something different in the user policy or something... else why not just turn Extreme into Broadband 50??

Customers who choose one of the new packages will enter into an automatic upgrade program. Those who go over their data consumption will be placed in the next higher package for the remainder of the month. The following month's data will be reset and customers will return to their original package unless they choose to stay at the higher level.
this made the most sense I dont know how/why they didnt propose that in the first place instead of that milliondollar/gb idea

JesseBlue 05-26-2011 04:57 PM

Is it me or the pricing is still pretty expensive? I pay $34/mnt including taxes with teksavvy and I'm more than happy with the speeds I get... From their pricing I should be paying $49+taxes a month...

-| TIRAMISU |- 05-27-2011 01:49 PM

I hope to see TekSavvy is going to increase their bandwidth cap in reflect to the changes that Shaw has made. :)
450GB Cap, 25Mbps/2.5Mbps and $36.95 Xtreme plan would be the perfect sweet spot for TekSavvy to continue staying ahead of the competition.

trip 05-27-2011 04:22 PM

legacy tv is like classic/basic cable
ch2-28 // 2-58

what are you talking about? they had 300gb or unlimited...shaw just annouced the cap limits only a few days ago...

looks like shaw was behind the game all along...

who knows..they might just say unlimited for everything...

Manic! 05-27-2011 07:11 PM

So Shaw increased there caps. So what happens now if someone goes over there caps. before they did nothing but now what?

clowe 05-27-2011 08:55 PM

So...if I'm on extreme, my cap is increased to 250gb now? That's a pretty big increase for 100gb

Bumped up to higher plan for the remaining period.

But the biggest I can get is Shaw extreme with a 250GB cap because I don't use them for TV. One month I'm going to have go over 250GB to see what happens.

!MiKrofT 05-28-2011 01:33 PM

The automatic bumps are only for the new plans. The original plans according to that post say it'll fall under their standard acceptable use policy.

Great68 05-30-2011 07:49 AM

I'm going to be pretty unhappy if/when they get rid of analog service, because I use a TV tuner with Win7 Media Centre on one of my PC's as a 2nd TV/PVR unit in my house.

I'd be so happy if Shaw could offer an add-in card that lets me use the Media Center interface.

If you're on Broadband 50 and you're using the old Motorola then you're getting ripped cause it can only supply up to 25Mbps, you need the new WiFi modem from Shaw which is a SMC Networks modem.
