Shaw Communications announced today it is suspending its plan to charge customers for going over their Internet usage limits.

And company president Peter Bissonnette suggested one of the options that could be considered in Shaw's newly revised Internet plans, to be released following a two-month public consultation, could be a no-cap, unlimited Internet service.
Good luck with having decent speeds if that's the case. They'll need to upgrade their infrastructure or else it's going to be balls to the walls non-stop downloading for people.

He says: 2600-2800KB/s.. KB/s = kilobytes/second.. not Kbps.

kyoshiro 02-08-2011 06:21 PM

KBps = KBytes/s
kbps = kbits/s

so yeah guys remember to capitalize the B if you want bytes and not bits :)
on the other hand, shaws too late, they lost me as a customer and theres no remedy for them being dishonest and doing things without notifying me.

JesseBlue 02-08-2011 07:21 PM

i say...screw shaw ... they are still full of :failed:

woob 02-08-2011 07:35 PM

Yeah I'm not too happy still with this whole situation, and TekSavvy's prices are a LOT cheaper ($20 cheaper for Extreme + double the cap).

goo3 02-09-2011 02:05 AM

at the end of the day.. no competition means we will get screwed in other ways

Bell's Mirko Bibic and Teksavvy's George Burger go at it again on The Agenda (37:49 minutes but worth the watch):

Mirko Bibic is retarded. I can't believe the stuff that's coming out of his mouth.

I dun think he's really retarded. The poor man has to say what the board tell him to say to keep his job. Burger on the other hand can say whatever he wants cuz he IS the board.

If cable company were to charge extra for over use of cap, should they also give price reductions for people who underuse the cap? Too bad it doesnt go both ways.

woob 02-15-2011 07:51 PM

^^ pure UBB works, but again, if it costs $2 per GB then EVERY consumer is getting ripped off.
