Definitely a good buy for me since I have a berry. Used it for some work stuff, reading kobo books, bigger/better browsing on the go, and the games!

Deadspace is on sale for $4.99 on the app store right now, I def recommend it!

Didn't think it was worth the money, but since the price has come down... :)

After living with the Playbook for a while, do you think it was worth it?

The better sale price isn't for good? So the $199 for the 16gb won't last?

Yes, after playing with it for 4 days now I can say I'm happy with it.

Likes:
- Price
- Size
- Build quality
- Screen is pretty crisp, coworker who has a Galaxy thinks it might even be nicer then his
- Having a BB has been a plus as the Bridge option saved my ass a few times from total boredom
- Browser is pretty solid

Dislikes
- I'm not much for apps but would still like the option available but the options so far suck pretty hard it's actually embarassing. Yes, you can do the whole android thing but still
- Not sure what it's called but when you tilt the tablet from side to side the reaction of the PB to adjust takes quite a while.
- Power button being flush to the tablet, I have skinny fingers so it hasn't been a pain but it's still a lil annoying

Overall I'm happy, it does basically what I need it to do and that's to watch media and have the ability to surf and both work just fine. However, I can say with confidence that if I had to pay full price at $499 I would be pissed but at $199 I'm happy.

well bell's website is broken and wont let me go through checkout and take either of my credit cards. and the live chat CSR lied to me and gave me a bogus confirmation # when I tried to purchase it yesterday.

the bell option is a no go for me.

You can solely use the software buttons and never have to touch the power button unless you're powering the device on. After you turn it off, you can just swipe from either top corners and just touch the battery and the yellow "Stand By" button works exactly the same as pressing the tiny power button. And when you want it back on just swipe from side to side.

Why are you trying to tether? You can do the same things in Bridge than you can while you tether.

I've been doing that as well. Only time I use the Power button is to turn from being completely off or to turn back on from going into idle state (screen going back). As mentioned, it doesn't affect me too much but would still prefer a better button. Not a deal breaker by any means btu I know for some people it has been a huge thorn in their side.

Try this:
In universal search type "tcp"
Click Settings
Check both boxes
Set APN as internet.com
Leave user/pw blank
Restart phone

if it doesn't work then enter Username: wapuser1 Password: wap and restart again.

I'm on Fido so I can't guarantee these settings work 100%, but I got it from here
What are the TCP and APN settings? - BlackBerryFAQ

if it STILLLL doesn't work I guess you will have to call Rogers and ask about it. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the TCP IP settings if you cannot tether because that is what I did to fix the problem.
Also it may take a while to set up for the first time.
Hope this helps.

Native Email, Contacts, and Calendar showed off again
Quote:

Today at the BlackBerry Innovation Forum, RIM gave a demo of the native email, contacts and calendar functionality on the BlackBerry PlayBook. We can’t yet post video of the demo but we do have screenshots of the demo and we can answer questions you may have (assuming the answers were discussed).

The email client on the PlayBook is simply awesome. RIM has taken the time to create an email experience on the tablet that feels like the smartphone experience, but takes advantage of the tablet’s larger screen. The email experience on your tablet has all the features you would expect including read, write, zoom in and out of email, mark priority etc. The demo of the email experience looks ready for launch and there’s little doubt that RIM will hit the expected February 17th launch date.

The calendar experience on BlackBerry has a fun tablet twist to it too. When you’re really busy on a particular day, the calendar numbers get bigger giving you a quick glance at what your day looks like.

The contacts section of the PlayBook is powered by Gist and if you’ve downloaded the Gist app for your smartphone, you will see it’s a very similar experience. The Gist element is great on a tablet because with all the added screen real estate, you can really delve into a contact and learn more about them without straining your eyes reading a lot of details.

We’re looking forward to when all of this launches on February 17th, 2011. Also mentioned at the event, was that the PlayBook BlackBerry keyboard accessory that we’ve seen a few pictures and video of is coming “early 2012″. RIM can’t push this keyboard out soon enough. It’s going to be the ultimate tool in leaving your laptop behind. More pics below. Let us know if you have questions.

Are you using the blackberry bridge? You have no need to tether on a Playbook because with the bridge it connects your blackberry phone wirelessly via Bluetooth and you use the data that comes through your phone.. it essentially is just mirroring what's happening on your phone with the exception of a couple of features. All I had to do to get this working when I had a Playbook was download the bridge app onto my phone then pair the two devices. Go to crackberry.com and read the tutorials.
