actually the browser IMO is lacking. i prefer using something like simple browser over the default one.

So what's good about the playbook? I'm considering on picking one up.

It's good because if all you're looking to do is some surfing here and there, some videos, some music, and possibly some reading, for the price it's hard to beat.

Don't kid yourself, it ain't not ipad but if you are just doing some basic stuff it works and works just fine.

Bonus: if you have a blackberry phone as well to sync with it giving you internet capabliities on the go without having to find wifi hot spots.

Powerful speakers, portability, feature rich browser (no mobile versions here), bright display, true multitasking, build quality (the thing feels like a rock), 3mp front and 5mp rear cam, and of course 64 GB for 200 bux. Best bang for the buck if you ask me. It can also play a variety of video/audio. The one I like is mkv.

But like the post above me says, if you're expecting an iPad, get an iPad. You have to find out what you need in a tablet and base your decision on that. For me, the PlayBook meets those needs so I'm happy.

Had an ipad2 for about 1 year...don't understand what's all the hype about it
everytime I try to put some files (video/music) on the ipad it makes me rage

Got the playbook a few week ago and I've been using it a lot more...
drag and drop + wifi file transfer is just soo much better
I can put a 700mb 720p HD movie on the playbook, connect it to my TV via a $6 HDMI cable and enjoy the movie in less than 1 minutes

on the ipad it will probably take me 1 hour plus a $50 ipad to hdmi adapter to do the same thing (after that it will probably say it doesn't support those small 720p movies format...)

The playbook battery is not as good and the browser feels abit laggy (with flash on), but at 1/5th the price of an ipad I thought the playbook offer much much better value

btw...i never really cared for apps..i have 4-5 apps on my iphone and ipad. To me it doesn't matter if apple has 20 millions apps available...all I need is ONE GOOD APP that can do the job, I am not going to download 50 apps that do more or less the same thing..

Dont worry too much about apps/games , once Blackberry10 comes to play, it will be pouring with apps/games.

twstd_reality 09-25-2012 12:51 AM

^^ RIM has definitely been trying their hardest to get devs to come over to BB10. I guess we'll see what progress (if any) has been made during BB Jam America's. Though, I'm more interested in seeing/hearing about their new phones and OS.

just picked up a 32GB last week for $118. def good bang for your buck.

now my daughter has her own tablet and i get my ipad back lol

knight604 10-03-2012 05:21 PM

update your blackbery bridge on your device then pair them and you'll see the sms in the blackberry bridge folder.

pulled the trigger and finally bought one, since there was 10% off at staples today. I'm just glad I can sync my gmail and calendar. Anyone recommend a good application for taking notes?

Also I know this might be discussed already in this huge 45 page thread, but can someone recommend a good website to get a quick overview into this thing? I hear things like side loading android apps and I'm not exactly what those are.

TIA
