^^haha its all good jam_done helped me out got one put aside going to pick it up today and cancel my other order at staples wheeeeeeeew!!!

RRxtar 11-23-2011 12:10 PM

so since we've had like 5 pages of 3 people talking about where to get one lets make this a little more interesting.

what apps and shit is everyone running?

so far ive found:

Conqu - good task manager/to do list
Facebook - facebook (duh)
ScoreMobile - sports app. as good as for mobile
Scroodle - pretty cool app turns the screen into a chalkboard or white board for drawing or sketching
Cineplex Mobile - doesn't seem to work for me. when it opens a city it just has a window with nothing in it

ones i plan to try

Poynt - local business search/locator
Oanda - real time currency converter
Ideapad - similar to scroodle but more of a note taking and idea sketching for meetings, etc. not free tho

i think most developers are now waiting for os2 which should be a huge step forward with native email and calendar.

and one game
Doodle Blast - game: draw lines to get marbles to drop into targets

The only app I have installed so far is Poynt which is always a must have app. However, since I already have it on my BB I really don't know how often I would use it on the PB. Otherwise I browsed around and have yet to find a single app interesting enough to download which is pretty sad.

Nabatron 11-23-2011 12:19 PM

dont they have a few games frome game loft that are pretty good? i checked it on youtube they look pretty sick!

when is your order getting shipped from staples? if you don't want it i wouldn't mind taking it off your hands as i don't have the time to go store hopping for inventory. PM me.

WeatherEye HD - accurate local weather

Games:
Tetris
Hangman
Cunini Lite
People on my lawn
Pixelated - like flood it on android
RoboFlu
Air Hockey
Gravitee Wars
BubbleMech Lite
Assembler Mobile 2 HD - pretty cool game you have to assemble boxes a certain way so that the green box fits inside the dotted lines
DoodleBlast
PowerVacuum
Samurai2 - $4.99

Also heard that Machinarium is really fun. Haven't bought it yet though.

i have one that i am thinking to sell for 225 (16gb still sealed and thats the base price + tax so no profit made at all)...

thinking of whether i should keep it or not as i got an ipad2 already...

would rather spend the 200 dollars elsewhere than to just to keep another tablet

Tapioca 11-23-2011 01:46 PM

I personally think the National Film Board app which came pre-loaded is pretty good. I've watched a couple of full length documentaries including one on the Chinese Head Tax.

Not really for the lack of trying but more just lack of interest. You're right, there are good apps but just not for me. I'm also not one for games on tablets either but I might give a few of them a try. It really doesn't matter too much in the end cause I mainly use it for media and surfing so it ain't no deal breaker for me.

k3lv 11-23-2011 06:28 PM

I was bored in class and started watching college ball on firstrowsports lol. Flash does come in handy some times. For $200 this deal couldn't go wrong. To have with you to surf the web and for media is awesome. Nothing wrong with using my iphone but to have it on a bigger screen is dope. Apps need more support but I suppose that according to you guys os 2.0 is coming.

I'll knitpick on one thing though. Everytime I try to set an image as my background it always focuses into part of the picture like they cropped it, and I dont get the full picture. Any one know how to fix this?

threezero 11-23-2011 07:42 PM

Will I have a lesser experience with the playbook if I don't own a blackberry?

You won't be missing anything really, only BlackBerry Bridge. But missed things can be substituted. Within bridge you will have email, contacts, calendar(all 3 which are in your gmail/hotmail website versions), memopad/tasks(there are apps for those), bridge browser(can be tethered and use wifi hotspot from your android/iPhone to use regular browser) and BBM. You will onyl be missing most of these features until OS 2.0 comes out in February 12'.

If the supply chain in your area has run dry of the BlackBerry PlayBook you need not worry any longer. RIM has decided it to maximize those sales by offering the device up on their very own portal and not only that, they're doing so with the sale prices attached as well. So, right now -- you can get:

16GB BlackBerry PlayBook for - $199
32GB BlackBerry PlayBook for - $299
64GB BlackBerry PlayBook for - $399

With all versions in stock and shipping within two business days, it sure has heck beats going out and fighting the holiday shopping crowds. Sales end on December 1st, so make sure you get yours ordered before then. It is applicable on both the U.S. and Canadian sites.
