I have to admit, I prefer the natural scrolling over the MS style |

The natural scrolling definitely spoilt me. Now I find it awkward when I'm on another laptop and it's the standard scrolling |
i need to use windows for some of the stuff i need to do.. since i need dual monitor.. is there a way to extend the desktop do my 2nd monitor and at the same time allow it to be running at it's only resolution? the mbpr is runnig at 2660x1800 and my second screen is runnig at 1920x1080. but since it's extended desktop the resolution on the second screen is way off as everything will appear too big. is there a program that can fix it? or i'm just going to be stuck using single monitor? |
I totally don't understand what you're trying to ask. You want your external monitor to run 2880x1800? That's not happening. |
Hes trying to extend his desktop but to have the second monitor run at a different resolution (like using displayfusion for windows). but its extending this default 2660x1800 resolution onto his second monitor. |
Go into the system preferences and you can adjust the resolution in the display section. |
it's fine on the osx side it doesn't work for the windows side. the second monitor shows it's running on 1920x1080 but everything on there looks all blown up i don't know why |
the pixels on the 1080P display is already physically larger. u can set the DPI lower on the 1080P display or just scale the retina to a higher DPI |
Anyone have a solution to this problem? Apple removed the "warning when closing multiple tabs" function from Safari (running Version 6.0.2 (8536.26.17)). Tried finding a work around like iTweax, but even when I applied the option and restarted Safari. It still would close the program when I cmd+Q, without warning me. This problem is not to be confused with the restore previous tabs option. Ie. I paid tuition online and there was a receipt print out page, but I accidentally closed Safari and now I can't print it out anymore. Don't want to use FireFox, and I briefly looked through Chrome's settings and I couldn't see the option. |
What's up with mac OSX's, why are they such a PITA if you purchase them through their store? It's almost like they're begging me to pirate their shit  here's my problem, I have a SSD in an external enclosure, formatted and ready to go. It's plugged into my macbook via USB. I want to install OSX Mountain lion directly onto that SSD (which is currently connecter via USB). How can I (legitimately) buy mountain lion and do this? I know I can upgrade it through app store, but then it will only allow me to install it onto my current Harddrive, right? Is there any way to buy mountain lion and only download the ISO, and install it directly to my external SSD, and then swap my harddrives? Sorry if the above sounds so wordy. I already took the data I wanted off my old harddrive, so should I just take the easy route and update my existing harddrive to Mountain Lion then use carbon copy cloner to clone my harddrive to my SSD? Any disadvantages? I have tons of crap on my mac so I just wanted to start with a clean slate again |
No PITA, just a different process... You can download the ML app/installer from the App Store and install/upgrade your current OS on your boot drive. If you want to clean install to a different drive you need to make your own ML USB boot drive. You will need a spare flash drive or external hard drive, to keep it simple use this tool to make the boot drive... Lion DiskMaker Finally boot from your new USB boot drive and install ML on any internal or external drive that you wish. Make sure you run Disk Utility from the boot drive first to partition and format the target drive as needed. Also unless you plan on running the SSD as an external drive you might as well install it in your laptop before installing ML, doing so will make the install go quicker (unless you are using Thunderbolt). I don't know about all SSD brands but I have an OCZ and they recommend that you never connect the drive using a bus powered USB enclosure, doing so can corrupt the drives firmware and you must run there boot tools to reflash and secure erase the drive. |

Anyone have a mid-2012 MBA that seems to keep crashing under light gaming on Windows? I think the latest update fucked the fan control under Boot Camp. Shit's not spinning even when it's hot. Going to manually set it to the max RPM of 6500 and try again. |
Just discovered "sizeup" great utility for managing the size of application windows.. |
Just got a 2.7GHz 15" Retina MBP....holy shit this thing is fast! I don't like the small 15" display as I'm so used to my 17" MBP but I had no choice as it died. |
Yes it's quick! I used to have a dual core i7 2.66GHz MBP and switched it up to a quad core 2.6GHz and video rendering has cut time in half and sometimes better. Most of the other things as far as graphics, web browsing, email hasn't changed as the older i7 was already quick enough. Battery life is great too on these things. If I'm not doing video/graphics and just browsing the internet and doing email or typing documents I can cruise past 5 hours without it complaining. |
any recommendations for pdf editors for notes? i need one that can add text for fill in the blanks, make arrows, highlight text, and free drawing with trackpack/mouse, etc. preview can currently do all of this for me except the free drawing but it's pretty important to me for drawing lines in graphs. |
Finally had the chance to do the SSD + HDD upgrade. Got a Samsung 840 120GB SSD and a 750GB HDD. Definitely worth it to put OSX on an ssd. |
^^ Which Macbook do you have? I'm interested in doing this upgrade. |
I have a 2011 15" Macbook Pro |
