the guy on the right was also trying to stop the rioters and ended up getting jumped by 10 men. I caught it all on video and am sending it to VPD

Probably took him all of 30 seconds in cuffs to reflect on what he did and how it's going to change his future, then ball up and cry like a little bitch.

Common sense, some people have it and some don't. I'd say half of the people that don't could take a sec to figure it out and the rest should just be shot to save the rest of the world from their disease of stupidity.

It'll look even cooler in jail. His street cred gets +. A pic with his BF's tattooed arms around his 95lbs frame is super cool

Does that Jason picture remind anyone else of McLovin?

Vancouver and all the surrounding suburbs would be so much safer and so much better if we didn't have to worry about hooligans starting shit every freaking chance they get.

Thank you to the people that are helping the vpd and to the people that tried to protect us and our city last night and thank you to the people who give a damn about our city and went to clean up. I hope these people that do not have an ounce of respect for themselves or their fellow man or the city get what they deserve, not just a slap on the wrist.

Am I the only one the highly doubts any significant fines/penalties will be given to the rioters, even the ones with clear photo/video evidence against them?

I wouldn't be surprised if nothing happens.

so i almost... almost.. feel bad for some of these guys because they're too stupid to realize how fucked they are (almost)

There are so many horrible factors to all of this.
Trashy people drinking from 11am and cant control their emotions when they are drunk.
A focused group of anarchists and criminals who planned this all along.
The normal spectators fueling the riot with cameras, chants, rants.
Then you have the other side of people defending and protecting. And in the end, you couldnt tell who was good or bad. Just fights everywhere.
No taxis in or out of downtown. No transit available for anyone to leave.
Riot police pushing people to leave.

Of course, all this fueled the mob mentality.
Once the mob mentality hits, it was all over.

Many of these kids could and will have their lives ruined. As you said. They simply were to stupid to be a civilized human being.

Although you might feel bad for them.
Perfectly ok, however, a lesson has to be taught to the criminals, and a lesson to learn for future criminals.

sad... so sad...

I'm ashamed to be from Vancouver today. What a fucking disgrace.

Even if they get slaps on the wrist they could still end up with records of some sort that will affect their lives for the foreseeable future. I hope the local prosecutors grow some fucking balls and at least make some of these fools pay.

I actually think the city and VPD are going to come down really hard on these punks. It's all over the world now and they will want to use these people as a example and I really hope they do.

Essentially those that planned this riot will get away, because odds are they were prepared and had masks on (props to the girl who tried to remove them). Other people who were either intoxicated or fell into the whole mob mentality are now fucked because they are all caught on camera.

Don't you just love how the world works?

Does this kind of crap happen in other cities? And if not, why does it happen in Vancouver?

What happened yesterday is a re-affirmation to me about the small amount people in Vancouver who paint the rest of the population and people in general these days. Lack of respect, lack of accountability.

How can someone say that burning another person's vehicle, looting businesses and assaulting folks trying to help the situation for fun is beyond me. I'm tempted to put some of the blame towards the parents of these kinds of people but if you have to be taught not to steal and vandalize another person's property then you're beyond hopeless.

disgusting what happened. i left after the 4th goal. the people that were sticking around watching the riot are idiots as well! get the hell out of the way and let the police nail the people that are there to cause trouble.

Splmash 06-16-2011 02:12 PM

Thank you for all who came out. I got to DT at 8:30 am with my friend and a car full of garbage bags, brooms and gloves. We saw dozens of people helping out and handed out all our material before joining everyone to clean up. I had to rush to SFU for my class and when I got back DT, I'm glad to say it looks a whole lot better. But sadly cleaning up the city's image will be the hardest part.
