No, I'm serious. Do you even lift? No pics, vids, and several dumb questions. You're the one that sounds like the typical miscer ;)

so yes he does lift :fullofwin:

anyways day 3 of smolov bench
cant wait

red_sir 10-26-2012 02:49 PM

Day off today. Nothing to do but to watch videos. Here's a couple workouts from the past week.

Last deadlift session before Smolov. No more deadlifting for at least a month. :okay:

Day 2 of smolov squats. 5th and last set of 335x7

Spidey 10-26-2012 02:52 PM

squats look good, but your back's pretty round on the dead lifts

red_sir 10-26-2012 02:59 PM

Yeah, I don't deadlift very often, back is definitely a weak link. I think I can dip my hips down a bit lower too so I can get my lower back a little flatter before I pull.

Love this series! So much great advice

I love the advice he gives in the end. Really puts myself into perspective, and how bodybuilding and powerlifting are totally different mindsets.

try keeping all the muscles on your back side (rear delts, upper/mid/lower back, glutes, hamstrings etc).

You can also fiddle with doing stiff legged deadlifts. You wont be able to do as much weight, but it will keep all the muscles activated as they won't "relax" at any point of the exercise like they do when you do a regular deadlifts.

With regular DL's, your body relaxes when you hit the ground at the end of each movement. You have to be very conscious of your mechanics, or else your back may relax, and you can seriously injure yourself.

Personally, I like SLDL's better than regular DL's because regular DL's, imo, are too similar in movement as a squat (which most people already do).

Thanks for the advice! I think I will do a lot more stiff legs along with deficit deads. I find those variations keep you honest... you're more aware of your back positioning and you know you can't get away with as much rounding.
Whereas with regular conventional deads I might have good intentions at first, but by the time I get to my last set I always just want to pull the most weight possible and bad things start to happen. :p

Weak ass chest workout today..a combination of lack of sleep and stress..tried for a new bench PR, couldnt even hit my previous PR. Just one of those days.

Dat feel when you realize you've learned to whip your elbows up and catch the bar properly :megusta:

Holy fuck, just had the best workout of the two years I have been training. Friend from UBCO came down to visit, and we went hit the gym late night with my other friend as well.

Pushed the fuck out of each other, and did 101.5lb DBx5 flat, and 91lb DBx4 incline @ 152lb BW.

Never went above 80s since I always trained at a community centre, and did barbell at Sport Central

On top of the world right now

Meowjin 10-27-2012 02:48 PM

I have yet to leave my house. Canada Cup Stream too hype.

Gonna go destroy my shoulders.

Gonna switch it up and do power clean and press, arnolds, vert raises, read deal rows.
