You'll get a $100 gift card plus 20,000 PC points (worth $20).

I'm currently using the PC World Elite for groceries and gas (3%) and the Tangerine MC for everything else (2% on 2 selected categories, 1% everything else).

Is the gift card mailed later? Got my PC World Elite but hasn't received the gift card yet.

i think it's via email. i haven't received mine yet but it says you can request to have it checked on after 4 weeks. i'm about 1 week away before i can do that on their website.

on an aside. i already has a PC points card and checked it but it doesn't have the 20,000 points that i was supposed to get added to it. anyone know how to check up on that???

Spoon 01-07-2017 05:46 PM

Yes, it's an e-gift card that gets sent via email. Took several weeks to get mine for signing up to Tangerine. But I eventually got it. Just be patient. :)

Cillu 01-07-2017 06:06 PM

Yes, be patient with the gift card. Mine was for Cineplex and it took about 6 weeks.

i like my RBC avion plat. Racked up so much points back in the day when i was traveling for work, exchanged the points for mortgage vouchers to pay off some of my mortgage :D

roastpuff 01-07-2017 08:54 PM

Just applied for the PC World Elite, that's a good card with no annual fee. I've been shopping at Loblaws' stores, as my new neighbourhood has mostly those. Guess it's time to start collecting PC Plus points.

Nlkko 01-07-2017 09:55 PM

RBC cards are terrible imo. Their rewards point system is a joke.

hotjoint 01-07-2017 10:13 PM

What's a good cash back credit card that's currently out? I've had the MBNA smartcash one for ages and it was great back in the day. Am I out of the loop or is this still the best one?

Not sure if it's a different case for people who already have PC points, but my 20,000 points came as paper coupons attached to one of the documents mailed together with the credit card. There are four coupons, each worth 5,000 pts.

Wait for the British Airmails deal with Avion. Certain times of the year they allow to to transfer from Avion to BA miles x 1.5. My mom was able to transfer about 100k points into a Business/Firstclass flights from Victoria to Johannesburg (Return). Hell of a deal. I wasted mine on a couple trips in mexico in economy :( Now switched to BMO World Elite MasterCard.

Does the tangerine online show the transaction right away after you've made a purchase? I know with my TD visa, it doesn't show until 2 days later once its been posted. I like that the MBNA one shows right away. It looks like the tangerine is better than the MBNA one so if the transactions show right away, I'd consider switching over. I hate that the MBNA one switched over to visa as well.

Which TD Visa do you have? My wife has the TD app on her phone and whenever she purchases something using our card it notifies here immediately. It was jarring at first but it's literally 10s after purchasing you get a notification.

That said, I didn't check to see if it posts in the pending list as well.

TouringTeg 01-09-2017 01:53 PM

I used the MBNA Smart Cash Mastercard for years. Then a few months ago we received the new TD VISA cards in the mail and there was no option to stay with Mastercard.

(TD purchased MBNA back in 2011: TD buys MBNA's Canadian credit card business - Business - CBC News )

We canceled it because we wanted to have a Mastercard for use at Costco.

A couple months ago we switched to Tangerine Mastercard. 2% back on 3 categories and 1% on back on everything else. 4% on the 3 categories for the first 3 months. No annual fee. So far so good.

Was yours the elite version?
My SmartCash is still MC.

Yeah mine got switched to Visa as well and that pissed me off as I already have a Visa. I applied for the Tangerine one last night. Can't wait to get rid of this MBNA one.

Weird....my MBNA Smart Cash is still Mastercard.

Damn, Tangerine transactions show right away?

CIBC doesn't even show pending transactions. I have to wait like 3-4 business days before the shit even shows up.
