Any suggestions on a good travel card that doesn't require me to book through their website? Planning to go on a small road trip. And the hotel I'm staying at can only be booked through their own website. Only one I can think of is TD First Class Infinite, but I have that already. :( |
BMO Travel Rewards https://www.bmo.com/main/personal/cr...te-mastercard/ Amex Cobalt lets you redeem their points against your balance. https://www.americanexpress.com/ca/e...n/cobalt-card/ |

My Home Trust Visa app was approved! |
+1 for the Amex Cobalt. I recently switched from the Amex Gold card to this. It's definitely a card aimed at millennials-- great for travel (despite the 2.5% forex) and good for eating out. In less than six months of ownership, I've racked up points that are enough for some short haul flights in North America. Quote:
1000 pts = $10 off for all travel-related items 1000 pts = $7 off for everything else You can use all of your points to pay off any of the items you charge to your card and can pay your balance almost entirely with points if you wanted to with at the redemption rates above. Source: me |

Confirmed that the Home Trust Visa has a 10 transaction limit per day. |

Applied for "The SimplyCash Preferred Card" from AMEX last night. I'm expecting some big spending coming soon, 19" summer tires, coilovers, brakes, and a new bumper, so the cashback bonus is pretty attractive. $99/annual fee 5% cb on anything for the first 6mo up to $300 ($6000 in 6 months) 2% regularly 2.5% fx rate as usual (but under the promo period, it'd still be effective 2.5% cb) Started looking at Brim Financial too, and I might switch to that after the first year of AMEX. |

Good point. But I'm probably not going to be shopping locally (online), except for tires. Which has a better chance, of being accepted. I do know a lot of places in the hospitality industry that doesn't take amex tho Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk |
Superstore and Costco don't take Amex which is a bummer because I do most of my grocery shopping there. At least Safeway does though. |
is there a free amex with travel insurance? or any card for that matter |
The PC Financial World Elite has travel insurance |
AMEX Simply Cash (NOT preferred) has it for free. 100K travel insurance. Pretty standard. Also has the 5% cb, but only on grocery/gas/restaurants for 6 mo, then 1.25% on everything else. AstulzerRZD can probably give a full review on the SimplyCash. I'd be inclined to use the PC MC if they offered points for the Mobil stations as well Quote:

Be aware that the PCWE MC travel insurance is 8 days unlike a lot of premium cards that have 15 day travel. |

Can someone try and tell me? The website states its for Esso only, but Esso is owned by Mobil. On another note, just got approved for the AMEX card. |
