world elite, 80 dollar annual fee, 2% back no categories. u redeem whenever you have 50 bux worth of points i believe. to your bill or write u a cheque.

it's the best cash back card on the market, period.

unless u were lucky enough to get it before the 80 dollar annual fee, then its free lol.

sorta shitty to have to keep $5000 in the account just to save the $120 yearly fee, doesn't TD have a "high interest" savings account?

also a pain in the ass to constantly have to keep transferring the funds from one bank to the other

i'm 100% with RBC and don't have to do shit all. salary goes it and visa is paid automatically.

is there an easier way once the TD account it set up to move the funds? or just interact myself $1500 at a time

120/5000=2.4%
so you are getting 2.4% "interest" which u use on your card to waive the fee. i guess u can think of it that way. u cant really get 2.4% interest anywhere else other than online banks like EQ bank or a million year GIC at your big banks LOL.

u also get a buncha other perks, i think unlimited transfers for free.

XplicitLuder 07-01-2017 01:07 PM

i had applied and gotten my aeroplan card like a month before air canada bs came to light...kinda sucks but i think im gonna stick it out. Only because the other airlines in the star alliance are airlines i actually use quite often to visit home

highfive 07-01-2017 02:13 PM

Anyone hear about blueshore visa? Uses same reward company Td owns. Similar to the first class but 2% rather than 1.5.

LancerBoy 07-01-2017 02:29 PM

Thinking of getting this one that just came out:

https://www.americanexpress.com/cana...043-Learn-more

5% cash back on gas grocery restaurants for first 6 months. Earn 1.25% on everything after 6 months. No annual fee.

or

5% cash back on everything for first 6 months, then drop to 2%. $99 annual fee.

blkgsr 07-04-2017 06:34 PM

i think my maths right here....if you go with the free option instead of the $99 annual fee you have to spend an extra $13750 to make the $99 savings.

Gerbs 07-04-2017 08:44 PM

Takes $4950 to receive $99 back.

yes at 2%...but the difference between getting 2% @$99 per year or 1.25% @ free for the year is 0.75%

it takes $13200 to make up that .75% to get $99

some how got the number wrong but not by much

twitchyzero 07-05-2017 09:13 PM

stupid question...when my card expires 9/17 it expires on the 30th of September or the 1st?

Are there any CC that doesn't have the forex conversion fee AND offer travel insurance or car rental insurance? I don't mind if it has annual fees...the 2% I get back from every MBNA purchase for the $90/yr has been well worth it.

danned 07-05-2017 09:41 PM

The expiration date is embossed on the card. The card will expire on the last day of the month that is written. For example, if the expiration month/year shows 01/17, the card will expire on January 31, 2017.

89 dollar now but 2% at 89 a year is still pretty good.

I still have the BMO 2% at 150 a year.

RBC have the shitiest product out of all the banks imo.

Best card or card company hands down has to be American express. I do pay fees, however the service is amazing. Never on hold for long, if I dispute charges,if any it's not an issue. Plus I'm lucky that I've kept my points balance in American express rather than convert to ap. I travel a lot, just for insurance and such, it's worth it. If I don't qualify for * gold, I'll switch to ae platinum.

Yes I have had aeroplane cards in the past. My other only card is mbna cash back. And I do pay of balance every month.

BTW I learned of sneaky visa practises ( or at least concerns adventura). If you make a foreign currency transaction, they hold posting charges for up to week or two, and when the exchange rate is at highest they post changes.with ae it's right away.

Agree, love Amex's customer service. Their cards also have really good perks. If I was travelling more I would keep their cards.

Their Simply Cash card is pretty good - switched from AMEX Gold after my first year instead of applying for Tangerine MC.

Gonna shill for it a little bit. 0 annual fee, 5% cashback on food, gas, groceries in the first 3 months, 1.25% on everything else anytime. Has rental car CDW, travel accident insurance, purchase protection and assurance plans.

There's even $50 bonus if you sign up from referral code (PM me if you want it)

AstulzerRZD 07-28-2017 08:50 AM

v_tec, if you have something constructive to contribute to the discussion, let's hear it. What suggestions might you have to offer?

AMEX Simply Cash is recognized by quite a few as one of the best no fee cashback cards after Tangerine dropped their cashback rates for the 3 categories.

So I just found out Amazon is discontinuing their Chase Credit card (no foreign exchange markup).

Any other CC's that provide a similar feature? I read on RFD about Home Trust's Visa but a lot of people there say they're being denied after applying (with good credit, good income).

Rogers Platinum Mastercard - 4% back on forex purchases with a 2.5% fee.

Also 1.75% back on everything else.

$29 annual fee, free first year and waived if your put your Rogers bill on it.

Nlkko 12-01-2017 02:52 PM

BMO WorldElite Travel MasterCard - 3% returns on everything starting January. 150 annual fee. Posted this on the frugal thread.

It's actually 3% on gas, groceries, and entertainment. 2% on everything else, but once they come in with their devaluation of the card, the effective travel rewards is only like 1.4% or something.

the card is getting nerfed.

Does anyone have the FIDO card?

FIDO MasterCard Credit Card Review - GreedyRates

I assume it's the same as the Rogers card with the 4% cashback on foreign purchases. But NO Annual Fee

Also, do these cashback balances translate to money credited back at the end/start of the year? Or is it money to be spent on Rogers/Fido purchases? Kinda how Fido Points works.

Kilinim 12-01-2017 03:56 PM

Discontinuation of the Amazon Visa really sucks!
