I also applied last week and no email. I just took a screenshot at the end.

most are waiting 7-9 weeks to get their HT card

I just got my Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite card - $139/yr but no FX charges and equivalent to 2% cash back (travel points). Handy for me as I spend upwards of $10K/yr in the US for work and work gives me the 2.5% back so it turns out to a huge bargain to have this card.

If you've got the spending habits then this one is pretty nice.

This is inferior to the Rogers WE. It's a category card, only 2% on selected categories.

Earn 2 Scotia RewardsŪ points on every $1 you spend on eligible grocery stores, dining, entertainment purchases, and daily transit purchases (including buses, subways, taxis and more).

my HT Visa is being April 9 per email notice.
Applied Jan 24.

I didn't catch the category limitations but it's still better than the Rogers card for me b/c of the FX advantages.

That said, I may cancel it after a year - got it mostly b/c I'm doing a lot of travel this year and want the travel perks too. When my travel dials down I'll switch to the Hometrust one.

Nlkko 04-09-2018 10:46 PM

0 fx versus 4% cash back (1.5% net). There's no fx advantage.

Rogers has announced they are changing the cashback to 3% this quarter: https://forums.redflagdeals.com/roge...-2018-1969993/

He's talking about the World Elite Rogers MC card which is a NEW card, replacing the Platinum as the top dog.

Now includes travel insurance, car rental insurance and the old pre-nerf cash back (1.75%, 4%) for $0 annual fee.

$80k/150k income requirements.

Rogers World Elite MC (2% Rogers, 1.75% other CDN, 4% - net 1.50% Foreign) - Coming June 2018!! - RedFlagDeals.com Forums

Nlkko 04-10-2018 06:45 PM

Even with the watered down card, you still earn .5% net (3-2.5) compare to 0%.

Ah thanks. Hadn't seen this one yet (got the Passport Visa before this came out). This one seems like a pretty good AIO card for me - I have the MBNA WE with 2% but it charges FX fees and before the Scotia Passport I had the Amazon Visa for my non-CAD purchases. I could probably deal with missing the .25% cash back diff between the MBNA WE card (or just keep that too but I like one Visa, one MC).

I've never owned MC before. Is it generally as widely accepted as visa?

I've never owned Visa before, and I've never had any problems with MC. Not sure the big difference between the two either. Most, if not, all places will accept mc if they accept visa. It's either all cc (except amex/union), or no cc.

Costco and No Frills won't do Visa - just MC.

Costco USA only does Visa, no MC.

Odd, I know.

Just got an email about my Home Trust Preferred Visa being approved..
now the wait begins for the card to arrive!

Odd, I know.

As of two months ago, Costco US started accepting MC, but only the Canadian Costco Mastercard.

I called Home Trust a couple of days ago and they told me not to believe what social media reports are saying. Takes anywhere from four to eight weeks.

I started the conversation with, "So in what year will I get the card? What if I'm a senior, a veteran, disabled from the ravages of war." She replied with, "Sir, we appreciate what you've done for our country and we respect seniors and those who are disabled, but we treat everyone equally here. We are a small company and we have been overwhelmed by the number of applications in the last few months." She sounded sweet and had the most angelic voice. I said, "Thanks, keep up the good work, and.................. god bless."

Chase, you dun goofed..............

I was approved March 23rd. Got my card last week.

MG1 04-12-2018 06:14 PM

I guess I’ll get mine in like six months, knowing my luck. My credit rating slipped to 860 something. Applied for so many cards in a short period of time.

Acura604 04-13-2018 08:44 AM

for you former AMAZON VISA card holders, don't forget to call them to ask for a cheque as payout of your rewards balance (if its worth it to you). otherwise, that credit will probably just disappear into the netherworld.

AzNightmare 04-13-2018 10:25 AM

I bought something online with my amazon card and eventually the item never came so I got a full refund back... But the refund probably went to the netherworld. It was something cheap, like $5... So whatever.

Traum 04-13-2018 10:44 AM

If you had bought something before the Chase-Amazon card seized operations, whatever residual amount of rewards would have been applied against your total bill as statement credit. I basically just kept using the card as I would until it was no longer usable. All transactions carried on as expected, and I received my points as statement credit as well.
