^ did you just sideload whatsapp? How is it?

You can't message people because the contact list won't read properly, but if people message you. You can keep the conversation alive, groups stay forever though.

Bah... no Netflix on BB10:
Netflix Has No Current Plans for a BlackBerry 10 App - John Paczkowski - Mobile - AllThingsD
Quote:

If BlackBerry is “in talks” with Netflix about a BlackBerry 10 version of the company’s popular video-streaming app, they aren’t going very well.
Sources say Netflix isn’t developing a version of its app for BlackBerry 10 — native or port. And the company confirms those reports: It has chosen to forgo the platform entirely for the time being. “We have no current plans for a BlackBerry app,” a spokesman told AllThingsD.
Netflix declined to explain the thinking behind this decision, but sources say the company has little incentive to develop for the platform. The majority of Netflix’s mobile users already subscribe to the company’s service. So its addressable market wouldn’t dramatically expand if it were to offer a BlackBerry 10 app. And the BlackBerry 10 user base isn’t yet large enough to compel Netflix to support it in the way that Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platforms have (Windows Phone, too). In other words, the operating costs of developing and maintaining an app for a low-volume platform like BlackBerry 10 outweigh any potential benefits.
“Currently.”
So, no Netflix on BlackBerry 10 for the time being. That’s another blow to the nascent platform on which BlackBerry is mounting its comeback. The absence of any version of Netflix for BB10 creates a hole in the platform, and is a disincentive for users of the app on other platforms to consider BlackBerry’s new OS as a viable alternative. It also raises questions for developers, the same ones I noted here while reporting on Instagram’s decision to take a wait-and-see approach to its native BB10 app. If a company like Netflix doesn’t think it’s worthwhile to build an app for BlackBerry, then why should a smaller independent dev?
Which is not to say that it isn’t worthwhile. Plenty of developers have decided that it might be. BlackBerry 10 debuted with support from a number of popular apps — Kindle, Skype, Facebook, Twitter, and Dropbox, to name a few — and WhatsApp is on the way. But if the holdouts like Netflix and Instagram start to pile up, it could be a drag on BB10 adoption.
BlackBerry, for its part, is hoping Netflix changes its mind.
“We’re committed to bringing top titles from around the globe to BlackBerry 10 customers,” BlackBerry spokesman Alex Kinsella told AllThingsD. “At this time, it’s in Netflix’s court to join the excitement around BlackBerry 10 — we hope they choose to bring a BlackBerry 10 experience to their customers. We’d love to have them.”
We’ll have to wait and see just how much excitement it takes to get Netflix to reconsider.
I was really hoping for Netflix on BB10, then I can finally have it on my Playbook.

hmm I actually like the backing of 9900 more. But maybe that's just me

MikeyStyle 03-10-2013 11:51 AM

i prefer the back of the 9900 as well compared to what we're seeing with the q10

knight604 03-10-2013 12:01 PM

I think that backing I'd more like z10s.

JunFan 03-11-2013 09:56 PM

Does anyone have audio sync issues when playing .mp4 videos?

Nabatron 03-11-2013 10:31 PM

i actually like the new q10 carbon weave backing then the rubberized one...

yogenfruz 03-13-2013 08:27 AM

Got to toy around with the Z10 at TELUS the other day. Honestly, I loved it. Aside from not knowing all the gesture commands and lacking a designated home button, it was probably the smoothest phone I've tried in a while.

tomatogunk 03-13-2013 06:57 PM

My z10 fell out of my pocket while snowboarding last Saturday. I'm quite thankful to the person who returned it to the lost & found. :fullofwin:

Alatar 03-13-2013 07:55 PM

^ Probably looked at it, saw Blackberry, said :heckno: and gave it to lost & found :lawl:

Seriously though, nice of them to return it to the lost & found :)

beproud 03-13-2013 10:16 PM

I just downloaded whatsapp and bought the battery bundle. Its just getting better every day/update!

Blue_StreakR 03-14-2013 05:40 PM

I heard Twitter is pretty terrible for it. Any word on if they will be doing any updates?

How would you guys answer some of the critiques of this phone that say it doesn't compare to the "elite" smartphones?

beproud 03-14-2013 05:48 PM

Twitter is okay I use it daily without any problems eh. I tell people the BlackBerry 10 is design for true BlackBerry users. My typing has improved 100% compared to my iphone5 and I've been using it for only 3 weeks? Email is hands down the best compared to my android and iphone5. Browsing is freaking awesome, BlackBerry user would be able to relate eh. ONLY thing that is missing are the "Couple" apps. This phone does everything a phone should and does it beyond well=)

Twitter and LinkedIn app updates were released last week.

I would say, critiques of the phone which say its incomparable to the other manufacturers "elite" smartphone offerings are outright foolish and unintelligent. BBRY's OSs and devices are not meant to offer an experience identical to Apple or Android offerings, and some people illogically view that as a failing. The only consistent criticism has been a lack of apps, which is unavoidable. BB10 is a great OS and the Z10 is a great device, and the two will only improve as they mature and truly come into their own.

I was really hoping for Netflix on BB10, then I can finally have it on my Playbook.

Netflix can already be sideloaded. But you probably already knew that, so posting for anyone who doesn't -

Netflix for Blackberry Z10 - New Apps – Playbook and BB10 | Android APPS - BB10 Apps & Playbook Apps

List of sideloaded apps working on z10! - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

And yeah, it doesn't work on PB. Still waiting for the Q10, but it looks like most of the things I want are already there - Netflix, Instagram, Flipboard, Zinio so I should be pretty happy by the time it's released. Just missing Skype. I'm still scratching my head as to why BB doesn't just put these Bars on the app world, but it's probably something to do with a legality/liability issue. Most things I sideload work with minimal issue.
