The Verge review seems rushed. It didn't get into stuff like Balance or the screen sharing.

Alatar 01-31-2013 02:10 PM

Let's put it this way.

If I wasn't entrenched into the Android ecosystem/usability like I am now, I would seriously consider the Blackberry as an option.

I like the Balance, camera and messages. But I've been spoiled by the ability to tweak and customize my phone. The ability to play with new things; to make my phone look the way I want it to look and feel the way I want it to feel.

I can't get that with iOS. I can't get that with Winblows Mobile. I can't get that with Blackberry 10. I can get that with Android.

That's the beauty of an open system. Open source. That's the beauty of Nexus.

That being said, I can see BB10 being very appealing to someone who deals with multiple messages/emails and has to separate work/pleasure on their phone. At a corporate level, with sensitive information, I can still see issues with messaging being disabled... and I'm not sure how that would affect the Hub service, or if there would be any ill effects as a result of that disability.

IT departments will be the ones to puzzle over that.

I received a notification via email that my white z10 had shipped out earlier today. Upon checking the tracking number, it appears to be arriving tomorrow :suspicious:

I hope that means that I won't have to wait until the official Feb 5 rollout in Canada to pick this baby up :fullofwin:

I was doubting the review by The Verge too, but I talked to one of my friends who is an intern at Blackberry, and they said what The Verge said was 100% true. You have to consider that this is the FIRST bb10, and it is bound to have bugs...the battery issue is supposedly being fixed on and other touch ups of the OS will have to come in time. iOS and Android have had many years to polish up their operating system...so it's hard to compare side by side.

All in all, he believes that it is a good OS, even though he chooses to stick with his iPhone after his internship LOL

Yet that's exactly what they tried to do. Seemed like all they wanted to point out was the fact that it's not a droid or an iphone. Not the most impartial review if you ask me.

i'm still jumping the boat, we'll see how this goes. The app selection, games, customization of android...it just gets old after your all done with it. Realisticly, I only need messaging + browser capabilities

yogenfruz 02-01-2013 10:33 AM

Found out my contract doesn't end for another year -_-, so I'll be skipping an upgrade as I don't have the money to throw at a new phone when mine works just fine.

Not gonna lie though, I'm pretty bored with my HTC; even after customizing with Launchers or ROMs. Maybe next year when the BB11 (or whatever it will be called) is out, as is more on-par with other 2014 phone specs, I'll consider it.

Delatocious 02-01-2013 11:58 AM

Cancelled my Mobilicty plan (lets ignore why I ever went there in the first place), returned my Nexus Galaxy, signed up with Fido, got my old iPhone 4S set up to hold me over until my white Z10 arrives. I'm confident that it will live up to the hype and I'm putting my money where my mouth is.

If you told me 6 months ago that I would be doing all this for a Blackberry, I would have called you crazy.

tomatogunk 02-01-2013 12:15 PM

Got a call from Rogers that my phone was in the store but I can't pick it up until Feb 5. Sad, sad day

knight604 02-01-2013 12:16 PM

Should have gotten it shipped :p

Why would you incur brokerage fees and taxes when it's staying within the country?

beproud 02-01-2013 08:03 PM

My 2x z10 are also waiting for me at store eh, but i won't be back until the 9th to pick them up:(

twstd_reality 02-01-2013 08:19 PM

Does anybody use the blackberry.net email? I've read they are getting rid out it because bis is no longer needed for bb10.

The title is misleading, it's not actually an offical superbowl commercial. It was fan made with apparently no money.
