yeah but even the Nook tablet is better than the Kindle

I can see Amazon lowering the price of the Fire or putting up on what of its deal of the day things a few times

The lack of expandable storage is gonna hurt it. Sure there's the cloud but having to tether to get at it will suck.

Tim Budong 06-27-2012 07:03 PM

Im still ordering it
hahaha
im a sucker for this and have been in the market for a tablet for a long long time

Lack of camera doesn't bother me, it's silly when you see people using ipads/tablets.

You don't think it seems silly that a tablet would need to rely on another device to get it's media?

tiger_handheld 06-27-2012 08:19 PM

Looks similar to IPAD - gonna be so confused now :(

That's exactly what I want to do when I get one. I tried to use Google Music's site on a PlayBook. The songs played fine but the site was laggy and unresponsive. A cheap 7" tablet that will have a decent amount of ROMs is exactly what I want. Want to combo this with an S3 because of the smaller size if I'm carrying two devices, but I'm still loving my Note.

He's streaming all his media. Only using his phone for internet.

FerrariEnzo 06-27-2012 11:29 PM

its a good tablet with quad core... the kindle fire isnt quad core, is it?
being a google device, kind of expect they wont put in support for expandable memory, they have the Google Drive, lol

To the people who complain about expandable storage, when was the last time you expanded your storage? I went from 4gb to 8gb once, and that's more than enough for me. Not even half full (but 4gb wasn't enough) and even if it was, some minor file management is all I'd need to do...

I'm just curious what other people's situations are like. I know I run into storage problems on my 16gb iPad all the time, so maybe tablets are different

Tim Budong 06-27-2012 11:50 PM

was gonna wait for paycheck..now im reconsidering just ordering it now
hahaha

I store a lot more things on my tablet such as movies and tv episodes. Coupled with an offline gps app, some thd games and other things 8/16gb tends to get eaten up quickly. My phone on the other hand I have no problem with 16gb. Tethering to the cloud just isn't viable/data costs and stability. You now also have to run down the battery of both devices during tethering. Of course this assumes you're using the tablet away from a wifi source.

I'd gladly pay an additional amount to get expandable storage or more onboard storage. $50 more for additional 8gb is a joke.

I meant its silly that you need to tether your phone to get your media due to insufficient internal storage therefore needing 2 devices. If it works out for him great but I like to keep lots of stuff on my tablet. Ie travelling or places where reception is not stable enough for a fast data throughput.

i store a load of music/maps/videos/pictures on my phone and im constantly maxing out on space and i end up having to do more "spring cleaning" than i would like to waiting on my 64gb card to arrive

threezero 06-28-2012 02:48 AM

i have a touchpad and it now sitting collecting dust. comtemplating whether i should get this though..... it is the ideal size and weight to carry around

FerrariEnzo 06-28-2012 03:54 AM

If your going to be storing files and stuff, you should be looking for USB support for external drives, not some SD card... if transfering files, you have wireless or cloud storage.

USB flash drives would be better... this tablet supports USB devices.

thats because the TP and the Playbook have zero support or apps and pale in comparison to the Nexus in every way.
