I think the 8GB is only available on the Play store.
All other retailer will only have the 16GB version.

!MiKrofT 07-12-2012 09:30 AM

^Correct. I haven't seen any retailer that has an 8gb.

dasani604 07-13-2012 12:00 AM

Is anyone else waiting for the Nexus 10 (so they speculate) or at least the next Nexus tablet? The Nexus 7 seems great but personally I feel that it would be a better investment to purchase their next one after using Nexus 7 as the first test subject.

!MiKrofT 07-13-2012 12:04 AM

Different market really. 7 for extreme portability. I'm happy with my transformer prime for now but I might get something in 7" as well.

As far as I know, this is correct.

For what it's worth, virtually all Staples stores have the 7 in stock now. :fullofwin:

ForbiddenX 07-13-2012 07:06 AM

Are they able to sell it or do we still have to wait until the 23rd (release date on their site)?

On display? Don't want to commit to the purchase till I see it.

Lomac 07-13-2012 07:48 AM

I've genuinely no idea. There haven't been any internal memos indicating a specific release date and my contacts with both the vendor and my buyer have yielded no answers.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm gonna buy one today :lol

Some stores will probably have a demo put out soon, though from what I've determined from using it, it actually has a nice feel to it. Not as solid as I would have liked, but... meh, for the price I'm not complaining.

Edit: My buyer finally got back to me. The 7 is now available for sale! :D

ForbiddenX 07-13-2012 08:05 AM

Friend checked and they said they could sell it

I would love to wait but I've been waiting since tf101. I'm just gonna get tf300

Lomac 07-13-2012 09:31 AM

I have to retract my statements about the build quality. I had a chance to play briefly with the one I bought today and it actually feels much more solid than I originally thought. Although I'm sure it's not for everyone, I actually like the rubberized backing. Makes it feel much more secure in my hand.

Tim Budong 07-13-2012 09:35 AM

im buying mine later LOL

K-Dub 07-13-2012 10:24 AM

A big 1 finger salute to Google and their stupid Google Play store, what's the point of a pre-order when I can stroll into a store and buy it in person and save on shipping?

Fail fail fail.

ForbiddenX 07-13-2012 10:53 AM

^I know what you mean.. Right when they opened up the preorders I put one in and haven't gotten any updates on it at all. Their email support is pretty terrible as well. I've sent them emails but have not gotten a reply for any of them.

But there is the $25 google play credit which offsets the shipping so it ends up to be the same..

!MiKrofT 07-13-2012 11:18 AM

Damn I was just at the Staples in Lougheed. Didn't see it. Guess BestBuy should have it soon too.

I was just at the Staples on Lougheed/Sushi Garden and they have it but the guy wasn't sure if he could sell it yet. Not on display yet either.

I'm just curious what other people's situations are like. I know I run into storage problems on my 16gb iPad all the time, so maybe tablets are different

It's one of the first things to pop up after you set up the tablet. You also get a couple of free ebooks and a copy of the latest Transformers movie. :lol

Tim Budong 07-13-2012 12:37 PM

email they sent me

Thank you for contacting Google. It was my pleasure assisting you today.

At this point it's no longer possible to cancel this preorder. Preorder
shipment processing on your order has begun, which means that our shipping
provider is moving forward with delivery preparation.

Our expedited order fulfillment process ensures that packages are
delivered quickly, which also means that there is a very short window of
time to cancel an order prior to our shipping provider moving forward with
delivery.

I recommend leaving a prominent note on the door to let our shipping
provider know that you're refusing delivery of the package. In some cases
our shipping provider has returned packages if their drivers see a note
for refusal of delivery. The note should include the following:

- Refuse delivery-Return to Sender
- Include signature
- Include tracking #

If your package is returned due to refusal of delivery, your order will be
cancelled and refunded within 2 weeks.

If the package is successfully delivered in spite of the delivery refusal
note on your door, you can still refuse delivery of unopened packages
within 5 days of delivery. To do so, contact our shipper directly to
schedule a pick up of your package. Make sure to let them know that the
pickup is specifically because you're refusing delivery.
