In other news.. I was impounded on the Mary Hill bypass in the evening. Was not aware the speed limit is 60 there :(

dispute it and hope for no show, if he shows ask for a reduction

320icar 07-24-2015 08:35 PM

^^ more importantly, offer to pay the fine in full but ask for no points

dn53 07-26-2015 11:06 AM

I dont usually ride through Coquitlam, was doubling somebody up and wanted to show her the route up to Pitt Lake..

I had pleaded no points because I'm an automotive tech and was worried about my job security.. I had a speeding ticket in the past so I let him know my concern. He said he'll figure something out and to hang tight.. came back after 10 minutes and said to dispute it, and as long as I don't get any more tickets from now till the court date, he'll make sure I get 0 points.. something about changing the ticket to a different type (:lol i'm just hoping he just leaves me with just the impound all together and doesn't show up).

Pulled me over in a Yukon, had the stick family in the back window and everything :lol

I'll be good, I swear

Thinking about trading my zx6r for a z1000
Main concern is the extra weight and lack of wind protection.....

The lack of fairing is not that bad. You get used to it. Unless you're a highway commuter then maybe not, lol.

On the highway below impound speeds shouldnt be that bad, just worried about anything faster than that.
Was averaging 160-180 coming out of winthrop though the less twisty section of the highway last week. I think at those speeds the wind could be a problem.
Considering the ninja 1000 as well but the z1000 is lighter and better looking.

For me, as a pretty small guy with a huge head, at those speeds I'm usually rag-dolling quite a bit. It's not awful in full-tuck and could probably be improved with a super aerodynamic helmet like a Schuberth SR1 or AGV Pista GP. I don't think most naked bikes are going to be great for top speed runs. I ended up moving all my power down low through a -1 +2 sprocket setup for pure acceleration instead and man is it ever great fun.

So.. i got my bike back from the impound yard and found out they dropped the bike while it was in their possession. they parked the bike in the gravel and said it sunk in when we had that bit of rain last week.. You would think a towing yard would know better than to park a bike on gravel without putting something under the stand over an extended period of time.

The manager said to send him an estimate on the repairs and then they would either A) pay for it outright or B) open an icbc claim, depending on their garage policy. I really don't want a claim on my bike. I got modern to take a look at it and they put it around 1000 in parts alone. The towing yard told me to call them back tomorrow after he finds out about their policy.. lol

Hoping it turns out ok, honestly the guys at the yard didnt feel professional at all, the moment i walked in I felt like i was dealing with some run down hick yard. my bike was parked in the tightest spot and i spent a good chunk of time trying to get it out myself lol. i am a little dissapointed in the service but hey.. my fault for getting it impounded

320icar 07-29-2015 08:17 PM

God damn. Pics? Hope it works out and at least they have owned up to it

Its not too bad, all of it is cosmetic but unfortunately it spans over 5+ different parts

the fairing, the mirror, the clutch lever, the handle bar end, the front reflector, the front turn signal, the rear turn signal bent slightly, the rear passenger peg is bent in where the frame attaches (im a little worried about this one)

Checked out a 390 Duke. So expense. And the seat is kinda uncomfortable.

But I sat in the 690 Duke and holy that's one comfortable saddle. I see one used on CL for $7800.

2014 KTM DUKE 690

I've seen them as low as $7,000. Definitely a better used buy. Well I didn't bother checking the price tag on the 690 Duke lol.

Also thinking of just getting a Grom. Seeing some people on the Vancouver Grom group got me thinking, how brilliant. I'm hardly going to tour on a bike til my kids have flown the coop and the Grom is fast enough for my commute in Kelowna, but I would love to bring it along on family road trips.

Ugh that sucks, hope it works out for you. Impound lots suck. I had a terrible time at Busters last November when I crashed my scooter. Next time I crash, I'm going to walk it off at any cost to avoid impound and ambulance fees. Sucks.

The claim should be on their insurance policy.
The tow companies have insurance in case they or their drivers cause any damage to vehicles.

Help me find my next bike!

I've got a deal pending tomorrow for my SV and am having a terrible time finding its successor.

I've checked out an FZ8 which looks promising and am trying to line up a test ride.

I'm into the standard more upright bike so if you find anything out there please show me!

I'm working with around $6k

Just came back from riding Osoyoos/Kelowna.. highway 33 is so much fun, nice, open, and visible stretches with good road surface-- lots of scenery too. The bit between Osoyoos and Kettle Valley also had some great turns.

I think next on my list is Mt. Baker!

The $400 doc fee sounds total BS
I just picked up at YZF-R3 last weekend...(after I stopped riding for 10 yrs)
$5099 + $249 PD + $140 Freight + 13%HST (I am in Ontario)
basically $6200 OTD.

Quite fun and easy to ride...doesn't really feel slow..(but that may be because I stopped riding for 10yrs..lol I still have my old CBR954RR in storage)

Insurance is crazy cheap, I was quoted $2400 for the CBR954RR, paying $480 for the R3 now. (Full comprehensive insurance)
