Awesome helmet!! It's like an updated version of super daves helmet lol.

So how are you doing? Still able to work at all with a broken arm? How about settlement with icbc. Winter is coming, good time to snag a sick deal on a bike

I am doing alright thanks

Doctor says I am out for 6 weeks. Beacon already paid me for the ninja.
Yeah, I was at pacific the other day and they have a good deal on the s1000r.
I almost walked out with it, but it wasnt the colour I wanted.

Thanks!
I had $1000 too, I picked up that helmet and a pair of these
Alpinestars GP Pro Gloves - RevZilla

Came out to exactly $1000 haha

edit: most shops have deals on gear right now because its the end of the season.
Carter has the shoei x12 for $600 and $100 off the arais and shoei rf1200s. Wicked deal

Guys go vote on the poll if you're coming for the upcoming Memorial ride for John. I know not everyone checks stickies (I don't) so I figured I'd post it here.

radioman 09-10-2015 03:03 PM

The problem is I wont have that much room for a nice helmet if I replace jacket.

I just bought the jacket 2 months ago and it was $450 (see photo).

Just some cosmetic damage but I rather have new one.

Gloves where alpinestar GP2 and they are about $130 so this leaves me with $400~ for a helmet?

qhey 09-10-2015 03:38 PM

Revzilla's and motorcycle superstore has close out special on A star sp1 right now.
Very tempted to get a pair.

If you liked your HJC the RPHA10 is a really good helmet for $400-450

Raid3n 09-10-2015 06:31 PM

radio, thats not cosmetic, it's structural.
you're missing seam stitching.
if you went down again on those panels they would likely blow out completely.
i would replace the jacket tbh.

Raid3n's right.

At the very minimum have a tailor either go over the area or have the seam redone. Also make sure to ask for heavy nylon thread. The abraded portion of the leather has now become suede so you'll want to add a coat of something to protect it.

Either way that garment was not produced to CE safety requirements. Should have three seams at the minimum, that looks like one or maybe two if there's another layer on the interior.

radioman 09-10-2015 09:44 PM

Great input guys. I'll def just replace it.

I also had a call from Aviva insurance (beacon) and the appraiser gave a prelim report and the tone of the adjuster was on the side of they might not fix it.... I will hopefully get the full report tomorrow. He mentioned something about a dented engine but I think he might be smoking something.

If I do not agree with them I assume I can get an independent shop to assess it for me.

This is started to get more frustrating.

320icar 09-10-2015 09:49 PM

Would you rather get it fixed then just paid out? You just bought it, you should get what you paid

radioman 09-10-2015 09:51 PM

I dont believe they would reimburse the tax I paid on the bike. I'm not sure at this stage.

Plain and simple I want it repaired. My estimate on the damage wasn't severe. Hopefully the adjuster just misunderstood what the estimator told him.

Just finished Hitting the Apex....man it's long. The story line wasn't as gripping as Fastest, but it did a good job exploring the new gen of riders.

I have the RPHA10 Cage. love it. there are certain color schemes that are now on close-out for $250 USD on revzilla

I think i picked up mine from Burnaby Kawasaki in 2014 for $370 CAD

Raid3n 09-11-2015 07:35 AM

i've been looking at that helmet for a while as well.

DKaz 09-11-2015 10:48 AM

Beacon reimburses tax paid.

So I've been thinking about switching over to beacon due to my extremely high insurance rate even with my roadstar discount (2400/yr with comprehensive and 1MM liability). Before I drive out to meet a broker does anyone know the basic requirements to get accepted? I've had my driving license for about 12 years, went to PRS and have had my motorcycle license since late 2011 but have only been insured on and off in the last year. Any thoughts? or am I SOL?

I have a friend that could help you out, as long as you have a clean license (one or two speeding minor infractions) you should be fine... if you have been suspended I think in the last 5 years than you're SOL...

My yearly insurance on the Diavel is 6k+ LOL and thats with 35% discount.

same and $500/yr for beacon

DKaz 09-11-2015 08:41 PM

Dang. I like my under 400cc. $45 a month in Vancouver and $38 a month in Kelowna. Beacon is $225.

Gerbs 09-12-2015 01:57 PM

What's the preference between the gsxr 600, r6, cbr600, ninja 600? I'm willing to spend 5k for a 600 or about 3k for a 300. Also what do you guys pay for insurance on a 250 / 300 / 600?

R6 is the most aggressive in terms of body position and most race focused. CBR is most comfortable (relatively speaking) and best handling but least amount of power. GSXR & Ninja are right in the middle in terms of performance & daily comfort.

I spend about $1000 in total on insurance for the year with max discount from ICBC.
