Great hardware from Nokia

Great software from Microsoft

Can't wait to get a Lumia 920, Microsoft Surface and Windows 8 on my Home PC and work laptop to complete the ecosystem.

Next year new Xbox :)

Microsoft making things happen!

If this is released as the same time as Windows 8 and Microsoft Surface (and it's higher-end version), then it's gonna be killer. I'm sure this is how Microsoft + Nokia will be releasing their products as it will be a nice sweep against Apple.

StylinRed 09-24-2012 09:48 PM

Nokia is suing HTC over the 8Xs design being a ripoff of the Lumias and specifically the L820

Nokia to sue HTC over 8X Windows Phone 8 smartphone design, says its copied from our Lumia 820

^the second i saw the htc's new windows line up, i thought "wow, that looks a lot like nokia's design" even how they show vibrant colours other than the traditional black that htc goes for.

the thing i hate is that people are calling out nokia by jumping on the apple suing bandwagon. but in reality, htc looks a lot more like nokia design than samsung does to apple.

wasabisashimi 09-25-2012 10:14 AM

all I see is the color similarity, other than that, HTC phones still looks like HTC tradition design if you look from the side and back. Still has the curved bottom lip and sides.

StylinRed 09-25-2012 12:20 PM

they look "inspired by" to me and are different enough to be unique

im not a fan of suing over things like this but i certainly understand it :/

made a post in the ip5 thread but its relevant to the lumia 920 so gonna quote it :P

device compares between the 920 and iphone 5

tgill 09-25-2012 02:32 PM

Love the look of the Lumia 920, and ready to switch from a user of the iphone since the original, to WP8.

However I'm worried about the sound quality. I've read that the Lumia 900 was pretty poor and even phones can't like the Galaxy S3 can't seem to match the just average quality of the later iPhones.

May have to go with the HTC 8X because of the 'Beats' branded upgrade audio amp. I wish these manufacturers put some effort into decent audio quality, because the previews of the 920's OIS and display look spectacular.

bigzz786786 09-25-2012 02:34 PM

its hard to compare iphone5 to lumia 920.

if apple were to put a camera like nokia's or wireless charging, then it would be just as thick and just as heavy.

you mean the built-in speakers?

i dont really know about the lumia lines speakers i do recall people saying the previous gen lumia speakers sucked

but traditionally the symbian phones had great speakers :D

the Lumia 920 does have rich-recording mics though if that helps
Nokia Lumia 920 “HAAC” Rich Recording microphones confirmed - SlashGear

and there's always the wireless speakers you could connect the phone to

I looked into it and read that the Lumia 920 and 820 comes with Dolby Digital audio enhancements

I don't think its Dolby Digital Plus like the symbian phones but Dolby Digital is>>>beats

Ikkaku 09-26-2012 02:55 PM

Keep in mind the Beats audio advantage for the One X was only available when paired with a pair of Beats headphones.

I would prefer to use something that would give amazing performance in general versus only active when using their own line of products.

Agreed.

Also keep in mind, sound through the speakers is just one tiny factor. The average person doesn't use a phone to blast music through their speakers. If music was to be used, earbuds, headphones, or external speakers are the general sources of sound output.

The advantages of this phone far outweigh the negative of bad speakers (if the 920 was to have a lack in quality for this department).

I'm glad to see Nokia coming out with new things and trying to pack as much quality as possible. The appearance is seamless and hopefully the build quality is better than Samsung's plastic.

If true, that's a steal compared to the other phones these days.

StylinRed 09-26-2012 10:00 PM

agreed, i find it a bit hard to believe that it'll be priced that low considering how nokia typically prices its top of the line models

but thats the word atm guess we'll find out in a month

StylinRed 09-27-2012 08:54 AM

Italian and German pricing for the Lumia 920 has come out; subtract VAT and convert = $630-$655 CAD

more in tune with Nokias pricing http://mynokiablog.com/2012/09/27/lu...omes-to-italy/
