damn, i am really tempted to get this phone. but, through Rogers i think i will wait. i am really hoping the Microsoft stores here locally will carry unlocked and other colours of this phone :okay:

bigzz786786 10-30-2012 05:31 AM

im hoping that the aftermarket cellphone stores will carry the other coloura, and at 550 that's actually a steal, very competitively priced. If only it wasn't exclusive or if Rogers carried the other colours. If rogers were to eventually get other colours, then I might wait to buy it through them, since I don't know if I can trust those 3rd party stores

Users are confirming the Nokia 920 from Rogers came unlocked and is pentaband 3G meaning the phone will work on Wind and Mobilicity.

dasani604 11-01-2012 12:26 PM

Not a single Rogers in Vancouver/Richmond/Burnaby has one yet. :okay:

yes but supposedly that's only for the 1st, early, stock from Nokia which is an international edition and supposedly the Rogers locked units arrive next week

that sucks i was going to grab one if it were available (and if truly unlocked)

Presto 11-07-2012 03:19 PM

AT&T will be selling the 920 for $450 off-contract:

Will Rogers be doing the same?

StylinRed 11-07-2012 04:06 PM

knowing Rogers, fat chance ;)

bigzz786786 11-07-2012 04:09 PM

already talked to a rep for at&t, its still locked to them even if you pay full price. i wouldn't want mine to have an at&t logo on it anyway. eventually we will get local shops carrying the 920, the question is, at what cost? im hoping around 500-550 mark. or eventually rogers might carry it in red. but prolly not for at lease 6 months

I am hoping for around this price as well. But, I think it will be more than the 600 range that the local shops will charge :okay:

the chinese 920 has a much better GPU (adreno 320 vs 225)

Lumia 920T (Chinese Variant) Packs Adreno 320 GPU Rather than Standard Adreno 225 : My Nokia Blog

the 920 goes up for sale in the states today and there are lineups for it, not iphone lineups but lineups still oO surprised

StylinRed 11-13-2012 02:04 AM

SO HEAVY A BABY Can hold it with 1 hand.... wait a minute what?

wasabisashimi 11-13-2012 09:26 AM

do phone companies give out phones to poeple for the purpose of drop test?

Presto 11-14-2012 10:16 AM

The Lumia 920 has popped on Rogers' website, finally. $100 with 3yr plan, or $550 month-to-month. Comments state that it's unlocked.

StylinRed 11-14-2012 11:37 AM

its not unlocked anymore and that's been confirmed

only the limited first batch was unlocked

dasani604 11-14-2012 04:07 PM

My Lumia 920 is currently being sent to my local Rogers. Will update you guys on my first impression of it once I pick it up/use it.

bigzz786786 11-14-2012 06:45 PM

if I were to purchase the 920 from at&t, is there a factory unlock service for it yet? Can't seem to find info for it. Because unless Rogers sells other colours then im just gonna buy the red one in the states. The international version has a slower lte apparently

Don't forget that there's going to be AT&T branding on it.

bigzz786786 11-14-2012 07:34 PM

yeah that's the only downside. Maybe I'll wait 2 or 3 months and maybe Rogers will release a red version. Which I am very surprised they didn't release a red version along with the black one.

supposedly the unlocks from at&t won't show up for 6months (not sure though read that on XDA)

you could always buy an unlocked one atm though a unlocked red one is costing $800+ on the asshole market

keep your eyes on clove.co.uk though they recently got stock of the White one but sold out asap

areyounoob 11-15-2012 12:56 PM

Not relevant to WP8 but I just updated my lumia 900 to the latest update and now the purple tint when on low brightness is gone :(

dasani604 11-15-2012 02:25 PM

Got my black Lumia 920. Being a ex-hardcore Android fanboy, I'm really impressed with this phone.

If you fancy a professional interface where everything looks fluid, as in all the apps will have a clean minamilistic metro look (i mean ALL, even wechat), Windows Phone is for you. I don't see myself going back to Android after this. It's so damn smooth and I'm happy that Nokia is still providing quality cameras in their phone.

Jmac 11-15-2012 02:43 PM

I really like Windows Phone and have been waiting for something to replace my Pre. I cannot stand iOS or Android and hate how large most phones are these days.

With Windows Phone and wireless charging, this is definitely something I'd look into if Bell ever starts carrying it (wouldn't touch Rogers w/ a 100 ft pole and I'm not terribly fond of Telus). Are they going to offer a smaller version, per chance?

StylinRed 11-15-2012 03:10 PM

latest info from XDA you can unlock your rogers Lumia920 for $50+tax to Rogers only issue is tethering doesn't work

you can also buy from expansys.ca all their 920s listed are unlocked (even the AT&T ones) but they'll be branded

haven't heard a peep from other carriers, it doesn't look likely

you could buy an unlocked HTC 8X or Samsun Ativ S though if you really wanted a WP8 device right now

StylinRed 11-16-2012 01:34 AM

wmpuser and mobilesyrup report that they think Rogers may be launching Yellow next since there is a Rogers Yellow firmware variant on Navifirm (app that looks into, and downloads from, firmware database) just looked and there is

so maybe we'll see yellow before xmas

bigzz786786 11-16-2012 06:22 AM

^fuuuuuuuck! I want red! Haha, red is more Rogers/christmas like. ><
