Here, I made a better comparison:

The laptop images will be much sharper, but it's not like you LOSE some of the image. In fact you do actually lose some of the important part of this image on the laptops, because they are in a narrower format

You get the full image displayed because the scaler in your tv scaled the image down to 1080p resolution. If there is no scaler and/or you are pixel matching 1:1, you see the cropped image.

If that's too hard to understand or you simply skipped that part of my post, I got nth to say.

you fail....

the tv only scaled the image with image loss when you set it in different modes, ie wide fit.

Screen fit (what they call it in samsung tvs) set the pixels 1:1 so you get the exact pixel in the right place. NO IMAGE LOSS.

Please go google what 1:1 pixel matching/mapping means and get back to me. And yes, I will accept your sorry ass apology.

As I said, if the original image is 2880x1800, at 1 TO 1 pixel (meaning 1 pixel on screen is displaying the EXACT pixel on the image) matching, your 1080P TV can only display up to 1920x1080 portion of it.

In order for the 1080P TV to display an image 2880x1800 big, it has to lose some pixels/scale/do something about it to display it fully. There is no other way.

:failed:

It's not how much you've got, it's how you use it.

As my friend put it, the iPad mini solves the ultimate first world problem. When i'm laying on the sofa or bed, the laptop is uncomfortable, iPad too heavy, large, iPhone too small.. iPad mini juuuuuust right... :D

All Apple needs to do now is make a TV, and then they can go on about how all the other TV's out there are a joke and then try to make it sound like they invented it after filing for a thousand patents

Ronin 10-27-2012 09:16 AM

People did note how idea a size the iPhone and iPad mini are as remote controls so why not make a TV in the same ecosystem.

TV is actually quite a costly monthly expense. Maybe moving to a NetFlix, AppleTV sort of thing is better...but I just can't get by without HD sports.

dangonay 10-27-2012 09:47 AM

I don't think Apple TV will be an actual TV.

I think it's taking the iTunes model to TV content. No more channels and no having to buy a package of channels to get the one or two you really want.

I can buy a single song instead of buying the whole CD. Why can't I "buy" a single show I follow instead of getting the whole damn channel?

Ever notice how Apple products always get hate from Android (or whatever...Windows, Nokia, etc) users but no Apple users can ever be bothered to hate on Android devices?

Meanwhile you're hating on the Galaxy S3 on Facebook :fulloffuck:

Ronin 10-27-2012 06:46 PM

I just said the interface isn't as intuitive. And since I was using one at the time, I'd think that's fair. I didn't say it's a stupid product for stupid people. :lol

I cancelled my white ipad mini to get the black one - waiting till the 21st is not worth the color difference..at least the black one is supposed to come to my house on the 2nd.

is there gonna be a line up for ipad mini?

Ronin 10-29-2012 10:05 PM

Doubt it. Typically only iPhones sell that quickly...although I remember the original iPad causing line ups as well.

SkinnyPupp 10-30-2012 12:00 AM

The popularity of an apple product has little bearing on whether there will be lineups. I would expect it, from the same goofballs who are always there

Not sure where to post this, so I'll just put it in the latest Apple thread.

Apple canned their iOS chief.. So do you think they really fucked up on Maps?

This is the first one of "Steve's guys" to go... apparently he was able to keep things in check between this guy and the rest of the executives... Should be interesting to see where things go from here...

They also canned their retail chief, but he only had that position for a short time

DanHibiki 10-30-2012 04:35 AM

^i hope this is will be a good thing for apple. iOS 7 needs o be huge! Bigger than iOS 5 which was a pretty packed update.

SkinnyPupp 10-30-2012 04:41 AM

Well there are rumors that he was against mergine iOS and OSX so maybe they are heading that direction (IMO they would be stupid not to but that's just my opinion)

dangonay 10-30-2012 08:11 AM

Lots of speculation as to why Forstall left. Maps is likely one reason, but not the only one. Some also think he was stepping out of bounds getting involved in areas that aren't his domain. He's sticking around for a year as a "paid advisor" which is nothing more than a way to keep him from jumping ship to another company (you can't enforce non-compete contracts in California so he could go straight to a competitor like Google and spill the beans). He won't be doing any work or having any access to any new products or technologies for that year, so he's getting paid to sit a desk and do nothing.

As to Browett, well that was expected. He had several issues already in relation to Apple Stores and how they were run, bringing down the level of service to customers and not dealing with issues (even telling employees to "get creative" and fix store/building problems themselves instead of bringing in a contractor). Considering how important Apple Stores are to Apple in terms of customer support/service Browett shouldn't have been trying to cut corners. to save money.

Forgot: Then there was the whole Bob Mansfield thing. He announces he's retiring, then he gets a new position at Apple a couple months later, then gets promoted again after the shakeup. I guess they want this guy to stick around.
