Maybe worth considering if you could get it up and running ASAP. But July who knows.. price could be $2000 while the difficulty goes up (not sure how often that happens any more)

Bitmain, lol. They'll take your money, delay shipment for months, and then it's basically useless by the time you get it.

ASICs are never worth it. You can only mine very specific coins. At least with a GPU, you have different mining choices and you can resell it or reuse it after in a computer.

whole crypto mining is going down, ROI to shiiiiit now.
Doesn't matter gpu, asic...ouchhhh

I have sold most of video cards now.
few left to go.

Its amazing how quick things change ah. :fuckthatshit:

My info says, BTC will dip into 5K (USD) very soon and ETH will dip into 200 as well. Just matter of days.

I wonder, will cc world just keeps going down to 0 ? and gone ?

People who made the most money mining are the ones who started mining when it was not that profitable.

Buy the dip!!!! :nyan:

Rumor has it Bitmain mines with it's asics before selling them. Asics increase mining difficulty buy a lot. Monero in less than 3 days is going to hard fork making asics useless. That will drop the difficulty making GPU a lot more profitable.

Profit City Baby!!! (insert Jamaican horns here)

Why would anyone want Monero though?

Bitmain is also releasing an Ethereum miner. So if that forks.

That might work once, but they can't fork every time someone makes an ASIC can they?

From software....ASIC should be able to update firmware to work again after fork.

They can fork as many times as they want. Ethereum is already a fork of Ethereum classic. Also after people know they are willing to fork to stop asics why would anyone try to build an asic.

You know what an ASIC is, right? You can't just upgrade a firmware on them.

You can't keep forking, people will get tired of having to re-import keys, especially if they have many wallets.

Forks are a MAJOR pain in the ass, and should be avoided at all costs.

Now the cost to avoid an ASIC might be worth it if they think mining HAS to be GPU based. But if they keep forking they're just going to ruin it, especially if you're forking off forks.

That is literally the opposite of how an ASIC (Application-Specific Integrated Circuit ) works

Application-Specific

Once the application changes, it is no longer compatible with the circuit, and a new one must be built.

What you might be thinking of is FPGA

Manic! 04-07-2018 02:56 PM

This chart says it all.

https://www.coinwarz.com/difficulty-...fficulty-chart

This is fork number 12 for Monero.

Anjew 04-08-2018 07:42 AM

thats a huge drop in hashrate.

So far the eth devs dont consider asics a threat to the ethereum mainnet. I dont think ethereum will fork until they release casper.

i'm tempted to order an antminer e3 just so see if it really is programmable.
Maybe even re-purpose it for other applications like blender.. and if blender works.......
