Krayzie135 04-13-2013 11:08 PM

JayEch 04-14-2013 12:26 AM

^^ HOLY SHIT how long have u been farming?

Razor Ramon HG 04-14-2013 07:45 AM

Major pump and dumps today for TRC and NMC. I figure it's due to the market being relatively boring the last two days.

JayEch 04-14-2013 11:28 PM

Wish I started this sooner lol. Ah well

mining difficulty went up again

Hondaracer 04-16-2013 08:31 PM

what BTC wallet do you guys use?

if i'm just buying BTC to sell for LTC do i need a BTC wallet still or can i just transfer them straight from CAvirtex to BTC-e?

SkinnyPupp 04-16-2013 08:38 PM

I use blockchain and back it up to an encrypted file whenever I get a deposit

Just back it up, in case the site goes down or whatever. You can always restore the backup yourself using the bitcoin client

How important is RAM and CPU compared to a GPU for litecoin mining operations?

I'm able to pick up an old computer with a Q6600 but only 2GB of RAM for dirt cheap (100 AUD). If I pick up say a 6950 and stick it in would that be good enough or would it have serious bottlenecking issues?

SkinnyPupp 04-16-2013 09:21 PM

LTC mining is heavily RAM dependent, but if you are mining with a GPU, it's the GPU RAM that matters.

I have seen people write otherwise, but I don't think it is true. I have never seen the client use much system ram at all, and I have 32GB in my system.

Presto 04-16-2013 09:37 PM

I made moved my 7870 to a Sempron 3000+ with 4GB RAM, and I achieve the same numbers compared to being installed with an i5 2500k with 8GB RAM.

dealt 04-16-2013 11:05 PM

2x 7950's coming on Thursday

CP.AR 04-17-2013 03:24 AM

pair of 6870s for 300 dollars... yay or nay?

edit: actually screw it, I'm only here for another 6 months and then I'll be in HK and then I'll build a rig there... for now i'll just mine with my gaming rig at home...

SkinnyPupp 04-17-2013 03:57 AM

difficulty will be way up in a couple months. Now or never!

CP.AR 04-17-2013 07:19 AM

just saw this on Reddit:

Remember guys - ANY currency can be volatile, especially with cryptocurrencies that don't really "come" from anywhere. Play it safe and don't dump everything into it!

Starting with almost nothing, I made almost $500,000 gambling with Bitcoin. I then lost it all in about 60 seconds. I am now $50k in debt and will most likely lose my job, my visa status, my fiancee. AMA. : IAmA

I was going to say exactly what the top post said - this is an AMA about gambling addiction, not bitcoin.

But yes, putting money into bitcoin or any investment is like gambling. So don't gamble more than you can afford to lose. Don't try to use it to get out of debt, for instance.

Razor Ramon HG 04-17-2013 09:01 AM

Does anyone want to buy BTC or LTCs?

Please PM me as I'm looking to pull out of cryptos.

TOPEC 04-17-2013 09:48 AM

using guiminer, i get 20kh/s, WTF?! somethings really wrong

3770K
16GB ram
GTX580, have a 7970 waiting to go in

theres no way the gtx580 can mine at 20kh/s

JayEch 04-17-2013 11:24 AM

nvidia cards are bad at mining i hear. Wait for your 7970?

But if you should be getting higher, I usually just restart my video card and that fixes most problems

CP.AR 04-18-2013 03:45 AM

alright so I'll be picking up at XFX 7950 tomorrow for $200, along with an old PC with a 700w PSU and some ram for $150.
(keep in mind that I don't need to worry about power consumption since... I get it for free haha)

can i expect this setup to maybe pump up 500 or so khash?
is that number realistic? if it is how many coins can I expect to pump out a week?
(Computer has 2GB DDR2, Athlon X2 CPU of sorts, and currently running a 8600GT)

Hondaracer 04-18-2013 06:31 AM

With my rig - i7 6500, 16gb ram, 2gb 6950 and 650w PSU I'm getting consistent 450 hash rate
