There s a ton a talent in the top 3 lines however.. Carter/Marleau will be solid on the PK

Jmac 01-07-2014 08:29 AM

5 BC boys and 2 Canucks. Well-represented

pastarocket 01-07-2014 08:41 AM

Yzerman and the other Team Canada execs did a good job in picking this team.

Defend our gold medal boys!

rsx 01-07-2014 08:44 AM

Canadian team looks pretty good. No need for Giroux. Glad Nash is in, he's a beast.

cdizzle_996 01-07-2014 09:10 AM

Still surprised with Vlasic...

Canada is going for size this year, hopefully that's a good idea with such a wife open ice

The defence has the mobility, size, and toughness that Canada needs on the bigger ice surface.

PK's open ice hits on Ovie. :)

lolwut

If Team Canada wanted size, Lucic would've made the team.

And thats just a disaster waiting to happen on the big ice in Sochi

Tim Budong 01-07-2014 09:50 AM

Marty St.Louis would have been awesome. The guy may be small, but he's got such a great vision on the ice and can play in all situations.

For sure he is one of the top candidates for injury replacement.

kwy 01-07-2014 09:50 AM

they were going for speed on the larger ice more than size..

dbaz 01-07-2014 09:54 AM

guessing d will be:
keith doughty
pietrangelo bouwmeester
weber hamhuis
subban
vlasic

Hondaracer 01-07-2014 09:55 AM

Would have taken Thornton over st.louis personally

Also would have taken Richards over carter

Belov, not good enough for the Oilers (healthy scratch again tonight) ... Good enough for Russian national team :suspicious:

Gonchar not on Russian national team :fulloffuck:

XplicitLuder 01-07-2014 11:08 AM

If anyone listening to 1040 what u think of Price's B-team line up? Sounds pretty stacked too :lawl:

Thornton is way too slow. Watch him in the last 2 Olympics. His game is to slow it down so he can see passing lanes and protect the puck in the process. That's harder to do with more ice.

I think with Carter they were looking for a sniper not named Neal. Given he also plays center, he wins out over Neal. Richards is made redundant with Toews.

Edit:

So who takes captaincy? Sid 100%? Maybe Captain Serious? Who are your picks if different? Discuss!

I find Europeans have another gear when they play for their countries.

Just look at Demitra. RIP.

Not really racist! 01-07-2014 11:24 AM

Yzerman's call to MSL must have been awkward...as will it be in Tampa for a little while

I can live with Kunitz if he produces but Carter and Nash nothxjeff

gotta remember, in canada we have so much tallent available, its not so much about picking the 25 best players, it is about picking the best player to fill the roll. SteveY knows what hes doing.

Nash probably got the nod over MSL because he seriously steps his game up when he puts the maple leaf on. I would still have loved to see MSL on the big ice again tho.

Canada could ice a second team that could beat their primary team.

RRxtar 01-07-2014 11:30 AM

Also inb4 PK Subban gets suspended in game 1 for a flying charging/boarding/hit to the head

Give the captaincy to Toews. Captain Serious is clutch. Nothing against Crosby, as we all know he was clutch in 2010. -need a more serious dude to keep the team focussed now that we're playing all road games.
