Nah, I'm good. My concern stemmed from the worry that Apple was merely using the same heat and pulse style sensor that's already been proven extremely hackable and not something new. :p

alright...so i got family and friends all over BC.

Looks like other City's besides Vancouver & Victoria barely got anything in stock, some telus stores didn't even get the Gold Iphone 5S at all.

Sneaky apple is holding back supply,I heard next week from Two store reps in two different cites 1000 km away from each other Will be getting a restock of iPhone 5S.

Tons of people out there are Still replacing their iphone 5 and giving it to their kids/wifes as hand me down iphones for the newer 5S...it's crazy out there...Sold out everywhere including telus stores/futureshop.

Apple announces 9 million in first 3 days. 200 million now on iOS 7.

That's great news for AAPL and their shareholders

Now how many of those 200 million are now using a phone that is laggy and uses more battery, and will have to upgrade sooner than expected ;)

G 09-23-2013 07:29 AM

Question for all those in HK.

I haven't heard of any stories but are people still stealing iphones from people like before? Heard stuff like people would snatch it out of your hands, or rob people just to take their phone and resell it lol

Great new for developers who can code for the latest API level. Unlike some other OS's.

Did anyone manage to get a iPhone 5S today? I was told their wasn't a shipment today. I wonder if they were lying or not lol

KingDeeCee 09-23-2013 12:10 PM

Do any of the provider retail stores have the 5s or do you have to reserve it online only?

k3mps 09-23-2013 12:43 PM

Metro had a shipment of the space greys today. Went to get one for my gf.... Literally 2 min too late. Salesman said I walked passed the last buyer when I entered the store

if you dress too little in hk and china you will also get drag into an alley and raped. people will chop your hands off if you wear flashy watches like rolex. They have also recently engage in head scalping due to the increase in popularity of implanting real human hair on balding asian head, so hide your hair well if your one of those guy or girl with lush long locks

Yup that too! iOS7 saturation is almost as high as Android 4.x but it got there MUCH faster.

I don't know if a 2009 era iphone with iOS 7 is worth developing for any more than a 2009 Android phone with 2.x though

Which 2009 iPhone will get iOS 7? iPhone 4 came out in summer of 2010. Whether a person is satisfied with running iOS 7 on a 4 or 4S is irrelevant - they at least have the opportunity to run Apps using the new API's.

What would you, as a developer, prefer to write software for?

- A 2 year old iPhone 4S running iOS 7.

or

- A brand new phone introduced in 2013 running Jelly Bean. Say a Galaxy Star, LG L3 II or Acer Liquid Z2, for example.

As a developer, I say iOS is a lot easier. One os three different hardware is a lot easier for compatibility then a dozen with different size screens, hardware and more

literally lol'ed when I saw this

Depends on the app. If its nothing heavy like infinite blade or gta then writing for just ios7 has a high chance that it'll still work on iphone4

Ppl still write for android as the approval process is easy (to none) but the app has a fair chance of not being supported by a good portion of android devices in the market

Apple iPhone 5s Gold 64GB Locked to Rogers

freakshow 09-25-2013 02:58 PM

Some platforms are harder to develop for than others, but it means nothing. You develop apps based on where the money is.

You think people *wanted* to develop in Objective-C? A crap language that no one knew until 2007?

It doesn't matter if Android is fragmented, or if iOS is restrictive, or if the approval process is long or short. People make apps for where the money is, that's it.

I'm not saying iOS is better than Android or vice versa, but don't use ease of development as a reason.. If that were the case, consoles would be screwed.
