The problem is how much and when. My contacts are paying 780 USD if you send them today for their flight to China today. This is updated until 3 min ago.

You'd lose money if you send them cdn phones at today's exchange rate

anyone have a clue on stock is gonna be like? I'd like to get one from the Apple store tomorrow morning, but dunno if these will sell out fast.

Or people are doing what I and almost everyone else does - go online, reserve your phone and wait for it to arrive. Plus the incentive to line up and buy to flip has gone down since there's no staggered launch to China as there was in previous years. And the fact that Apple has a reservation system for China/HK after the problems with the huge lines (and fights) that happened with the 4S.

Only people lining up are the "promoters" who want to be seen in front of a major Apple store (like New York's glass cube).

no one in china would want north american version of the iphone 5S or 5C.

Only the ones sold in HK and China supports China Mobile's 3G/4G networks and hong kong's 4G networks

The demand market is HUGE in Vancouver for gold.

Each store only had a few and some stores didn't even have 16gb gold.

In line today people were selling their ticket for the gold iphone for $500, I was shocked people are willing to pay $500 premium for the gold one.

I was first few in line and only ended up with 1 gold iPhone and that was the last one of today's batch.

Gonna make a great birthday present for my mother :)

anyone in HK know what kind of gongshow exists at IFC apple store? I am planning to buy the 5c in HK when i go back in 2 weeks.

Thanks.

So a site has gone up offering a reward to the first person to crack/fool the fingerprint scanner.

I'm sure lots of people will be trying to crack it along with Activation Lock, and, of course, the jailbreakers.

...and so it begins...

Fights break out at Apple store in Pasadena with iPhone release - latimes.com

Fights have broken out at the Pasadena Apple store leading to at least two arrests Friday morning as hundreds lined up in anticipation of the new iPhone 5S and 5C release.

Police arrested George Westbrook, 23, of Compton and Lamar Mitchell, 43, of Pasadena for fighting in line outside of the store, Pasadena Police Lt. Jason Clawson said.

The store hired two Pasadena police officers to keep control of the crowd, he said.

About 9 a.m., another scuffle was breaking out as one man left the store with multiple phones, Clawson said. People whom the man hired to stand in line for him began fighting with him because they said they weren’t being paid enough, Clawson said.

Clawson estimated at least 200 people were outside of the store Friday morning waiting for it to open.

The newest edition of Apple’s iconic phone is being released in various colors, including gold. Consumers also have the option of buying the less-expensive iPhone 5c with a plastic case. For the first time ever, the phones are being released in China on the same day they were made available everywhere else.

As in past iPhone releases, it appears some people are paying others to wait in line to buy iPhones so they can be resold later for a profit.

none, Apple in HK don't sell iphone 5s and 5c to walk in customers.

You have to reserve one online at 6am first. If you can't reserve one, then you are out of luck until the next day.

.... and it continues ....

Some people waiting in line to buy the new iPhone 5S and 5C got a rude awakening Friday morning. They were robbed at gunpoint!

Police say close to 10 people were camping outside an AT&T store in Houston around 5 a.m. when two armed robbers got out of the car, walked up to two customers and demanded their wallets and phones.

According to HLN affiliate KHOU, one of the victims said the robber told him to give him everything he had.

“I emptied out my pocket, and he takes away my iPhone, my iPad -- because it was on the ground already. He’s like, ‘give me your wallet.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t have one -- come look.’”

Walked into Metro's Apple at 130pm.

Aside from the golden iPhone, they had every model + colour of both the 5C and 5S available in stock immediately.

Vale46Rossi 09-20-2013 02:22 PM

Apple doesn't charge re-stocking fee, I asked you can return it at the store in person too.

Mr.HappySilp 09-20-2013 02:53 PM

Went to Metro this morning and saw a bunch of people lining up in front of the apple store.... then I remember they are lining for iphone 5s.
Took a pic with my note2 of the lineup and got weird stares for the apple fan boys =D

Vale46Rossi 09-20-2013 04:06 PM

I got an unopened black 16 looking to trade for a silver 16 haha.

asian_XL 09-20-2013 04:34 PM

Just check out Sin Tat yesterday, you might get $500hkd profit this week, next week will be $200 or none

for the gold iphone, someone is asking $10,000hkd on the first day, then it goes back to $8,000 the next day. Yesterday is only $7,000

GOLD iphone = him

TouchID is such a gimmick. While a nice feature, it certainly isn't worth upgrading from an 5.

(Especially if you don't lock your phone)

I don't think it's a complete gimmick. It's just the first to use what I think most manufacturers will have eventually.

It is certainly better than entering a code, and probably the reason you don't lock is because of having to enter a code (I know that's why I don't use one! If I had a fingerprint scanner I would use it).
