The end of my OPO saga: (Go back a page or 2 to see what happened)

So after over 6 weeks from when my OPO hardbricked from a standard CM upgrade, I finally got my replacement phone.

After a string of 30+ emails, waiting to schedule a remote tech session, dealing with unclear return shipping instructions, and more delays and hoops after it was sent back, I have a new phone.

This is the biggest problem with Oneplus. Most other phones you can just walk into any carrier store or repair shop and they can help, Apple of course being the best for that. Granted, the communication with the RMA department was friendly and prompt, but useless. Every time someone new answered, and had more BS "procedures" for me to try.
If I could have had a remote tech session sooner, it would have been less painful, but when I went to book one, the schedule was booked up as far in advance as allowed. By some miracle I got an appointment. The guy was knowledgeable, but explained how busy he is as there are only a handful of these "level 2 techs" at the company.

Like most people I'm sure, a working smartphone is vital. Waiting 6 weeks for a replacement phone (when a 7 month old phone shouldn't breakdown to begin with), is unacceptable.

But, you get what you pay for. For this reason, I won't be going back to Oneplus. I need to be able to take the phone somewhere locally; it's a dealbreaker. And an expensive, stressful mistake. But, I suppose that isn't as much a priority for some people.

On that note, I do have a brand new, in box, Sandstone 64GB for sale. PM if interested :) *EDIT: SOLD

PM might be a good phone for my mom

CM12S has been good for me, but I noticed a steady decline in battery performance, so I started digging around for ROMs, etc.

Installed Sultan 12.1, and it's been pretty damn good.

Will report back after a few days, but so far so good.

Razor Ramon HG 08-12-2015 11:24 AM

I've been using the latest stock ROM for a month now. Works perfectly fine although I've had the dialer crash twice now, so I have to reboot.

inv4zn 08-12-2015 02:18 PM

Yeah I didn't really have issues with it, but battery was noticeably worse than CM11.

Phone has been off charger since 6:30am, and I'm at 78% remaining lol.

tr0ubl3s0m3x 08-13-2015 08:16 AM

So my touchscreen froze last night. Never happened before. Was just wondering if it's a one off thing, or will it become constant? Read on the OPO forums that it becomes worse. Anyone here experience that?

inv4zn 08-13-2015 09:59 PM

Are you sure it's the screen, and not just the phone freezing up?

ae101 08-17-2015 12:44 AM

stupidly updated to the newest os ... phone only worked in H+ so there were instructions to do some smsc updating crap... did it word for word and phone suddenly has no connection, only shows emergency calls only.

edit: someone pm'ed me to tell me to delete all APN's beside rogers LTE and it worked.

Razor Ramon HG 08-29-2015 10:17 PM

My battery life seems really shit on 5.1.1/CM12.1

heisenberg 09-08-2015 10:36 AM

TOS'd 09-08-2015 10:44 AM

edit: is invite tied to your account?

Mr.HappySilp 09-08-2015 11:14 AM

a large number of ppl have been complaining about the phone now. Mainly with the finger print reader and also camera takes really blurry pics. I would wait.....

it is tied to my account, i just took another look at the email

Edit: I'll probably end up ordering it tonight, and if I dont like it, i'll probably sell it for cost here. I'll most likely pick up the USB-C adapter, power bank, screen protectors and maybe the bamboo wrap.

TOS'd 09-08-2015 04:32 PM

^ are you able to screencap the end costs? shipping, tax, duty, etc.

Ikkaku 09-08-2015 05:11 PM

The opo forum is having a fit over the grounding problem with the finger print reader/home button. If you use your other hand that is not holding the phone to press the home key, it will not respond unless you tap it multiple times. This is all thanks to the metal strip around the phone.

However, it isn't a problem if you use a case LOL

Feels like the ol' iPhone "you're holding it wrong" incident.

Got my invite today and ordered right away, gonna compare it with my s6. Got the phone and black wood style

TOS'd 09-09-2015 10:34 AM

Thanks for the screenshot, heisenberg.

I wonder if theres a duty fee we need to pay when the package arrives, if shipped to Canada (for convenience).

And is the shipping for just the phone less than $40.99 or is that a flat-rate.

or just pick it up from china. no invites required. better exchange rate as total is less. not worth buying imo

Exc3L 09-09-2015 12:33 PM

thanks for the screenshots.

also buying from china, no invites required, is the china version. LTE wont work over here if you try to use it or something like that (diff bands etc, can't recall specifics but its different than the Global version which requires invites).

YMMV for that, I've read of people have to pay when they brought it over from PR/Blaine and also people who were waved through.
