My car makes a nasty squealing noise when I turn the AC on for about 10 seconds. I'm guessing its the belt or possibly the pulley. Doesn't seem like a fix that requires a top notch shop. So, does anyone have a good place to go to that is relatively cheap to get this job done?

Also, I'm going to need a more reputable shop for my suspension as it's beginning to make quite a bit of noise during driving.

What kind of car?

2006 Infiniti G35 sedan.
I got a new key from the dealer and they did a quick inspection. According to them my front compression rods need changing. Although from the amount of noise and creaks I believe it's more than just that.

Is it possible to increase the idle RPM of a drive-by-wire car? Specifically a 1ZZ-FE in a Toyota Matrix?

hud 91gt 08-03-2017 11:54 AM

Knowing nothing about the vehicle, the idle speed should be controlled by the IAC. Id think the base dle by the IAC should be mechanical?

Need some help to troubleshoot why my drivers side window isn't working.

2004 VW Touareg. 75k km.

- drivers window rolled down no problem driving home from work. Rolled it up when I got home, closed without problems. Tried opening again and it wouldn't go down.
- all other windows work without issue.
- tried rolling down windows via key and door lock, all windows rolled up and down no issue except for the drivers window

Hoping I don't need to go to dealer for repairs. Anyone have tips on how I can troubleshoot?
- is it the window motor, relays, switch or "regulator"?
- windows previously rolled up and down very smoothly no hesitation or delays.
- I plan to take the door panel out this weekend and look. Worried it's something expensive..

Thanks in advance!

Most likely switch block. If the window rolls up and down with the key then the motor and regulator is functioning.

How much are you trying to increase?

Just a tiny bit, like 50-100rpm. The car has some excess vibration I'm trying to get rid of but it only happens during a hot idle in gear.

So your driver's window does not work in all situations, correct?

I would just grab a test light and see if you're getting power up to the regulator; you just have to find the wiring diagram.

Or you can grab some jumper leads and apply power to the regulator to see
if it goes up or down.

saiko 08-31-2017 11:01 AM

The window doesn't go down anymore. However, when I press the up button, I hear the motor moving or relay triggering.

Seems like it goes one direction (up) but not down.

I don't think it is the window switch, because when I use the key to the door, the drivers window doesn't roll down, but all other windows do.

If you can find jumper leads to the regulator, try reversing the polarity and see
if it goes up/down.

It could possibly be the switch as well - which is why i suggest checking if you get power on your test light when you press down.

Go to NAPA and get an oversized plug with it's own tap. Basically it's a plug with a bigger thread diameter that cuts it own thread. Make sure you put grease on it to catch the cuttings and then use a pencil magnet to probe around the inside of the hole to catch any that escape.

Buy one of these and you'll never have that problem again (at least for anything with a dipstick). Purchased mine 4 years ago to do ATF fluid changes and decided to use for oil changes and PS fluid swaps too. Best damn 80 bucks I ever spent!.

Uhhh not sure what point he's trying to make or why he's so sure it's a wheel bearing, or why he hasn't taken it to a shop yet. Is he trying to skimp out on paying for diag? Lol. And why doesn't he have a camera mount if he's vlogging in the car?

Normally a worn wheel bearing won't feel like it's gonna fall off or thump like that; it would make a whining/grinding noise at first, if any noise at all. Then it when it was past that point it'll start getting real loose and clunky...
Maybe his tire is separated. Maybe his rim is really bent. Your guess is as good as ours at this point, but he needs to take it to someone to look at. You really can't confirm anything just by watching a video someone made. Don't be the guy who just throws parts at the car and hopefully fixes it lol.

underscore 01-22-2018 08:46 PM

I made it half a second into that video and then I had to stop it since buddy was so annoying. Usually wheel bearings sound worse while turning one way or the other vs driving straight.

I couldn't make it past the first 15 seconds cause of the same reason

fliptuner 01-23-2018 07:31 AM

Piqued my curiosity. 13 seconds.

fuck that mask is cringeworthy....might as well walk around with a bandana

hud 91gt 01-23-2018 01:50 PM

What's the mask for? Is that considered cool or something?

twitchyzero 04-23-2018 01:11 PM

how can I find the thread size of the wing nut that anchors the spare tire?

the original one seized, so I fly-wheeled it off

now I need a replacement but the part no. online seems to be for the type-S (I have the base RSX) even if it says it's a fit for my car and trim type

in the photo, part reference #11 seems like the rod and wing nut is one piece, on mine the rod is part of the wheel well and I just need the wing nut

where can I find the thread size so I can just go buy a piece at the hardware store? I tried getting a few sizes but they didn't fit
