Canucks season opener is on Oct 8thh vs the flames. The home opener is Oct 11 vs the oilers

Hiring a coach who is 57 and has no NHL playing or coaching experience is going to be just as good as giving Lou the C back in the day. Why does only Vancouver try these weird things when you had a Stanley Cup winning coach who gets along with Kesler available?

Exactly why I said Dan Byslma should be hired first and foremost above anyone else. No substitute for Stanley Cup Winning coaches.

Head Coach: Byslma
Assistants: Boucher & Oates

Sullivan ran it.

punkwax 06-22-2014 04:41 PM

Sorry if I missed/am missing something, but all the games that aren't labeled SN, CBC etc are going to be on what channel? Even Canucks.com have left a bunch of games blank..

Want to consider what channels I might order as I'm trying to reduce the ol' cable bill :p

Matthew Sekeres @mattsekeres
Was just told Desjardins spurned #Pens b/c offer was for 2 years only, no authority to hire own assts. Now expected to be hired by #Canucks

FS1992EG 06-23-2014 06:29 AM

One team that has definitely made an offer? Vancouver. I believe it included their first pick in this draft (which is sixth overall) and Hunter Shinkaruk, who was taken 24th in 2013. There was at least one other piece, probably off the main roster, but I can't pin it down. It's not Ryan Kesler, who won't go there.

http://www.cbc.ca/sports-content/hoc...mit-early.html

Friedman saying Canucks offered 6th pick + Shinkaruk + another player for 1st overall.

murd0c 06-23-2014 07:37 AM

no I like shinkaruk

jeedee 06-23-2014 07:39 AM

not sure how I feel about trading Shinkaruk and possibly Ehlers at #6. Both are potential game changers

... but so are Ekblad and Reinhart at #1

Grandmaster TSE 06-23-2014 08:08 AM

Desjardin officially named as head coach

Also Hartnell to Columbus for umburger and pick.........damn

Flyers trade F Hartnell to Blue Jackets for Umberger

Quote:

The Philadelphia Flyers have traded forward Scott Hartnell to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for restricted free agent R.J. Umberger on Monday.

Umberger scored 18 goals and added 16 assists with a minus-3 rating in 74 games with the Blue Jackets in 2013-2014.

The 32-year-old has three years left on his contract with an average annual value of $4.6 million.

Umberger has 169 goals and 197 assists for 366 points in 673 career games with the Blue Jackets and Philadelphia Flyers.

The American was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the first round (16th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Not sure about Shinkaruk after surgery. I do like his attitude and willingness to win.

But for Ekblad or Reinhart, can't help but think about the player they projected to become and you will see it's worth it.

On #Canucks inhouse video on Desjardins, when new coach talks about leaders, no images of Kesler. Really big week.

Hondaracer 06-23-2014 08:16 AM

Anytime Umbergers name comes up this is all I can think about:

Was watching that game live and I was jumping up and down being like WTFFFF are you kidding me!?!!!!

You can hear it in the announcers voice lol the explosion

Spoiler!

:lawl::lawl::lawl:

Umberger and Hartnell are pretty equivalent but Umberger is cheaper and has a shorter contract ... Plus CBJ gave up a pick to boot ...

jeedee 06-23-2014 09:01 AM

Wonder if its the 6th overall + Shinkaruk + roster player offer from the Canucks?
