Luongo was not untradeable, Gillis was just an idiot.

Benning just said he doesn't care about trading in the west, he will make the trade which is best for the team. I think that's where Gillis fucked everything since he would only deal with east coast teams.

20 mins / game = $7317.07 per minute... imagine going back to the bench after a 30 second shift and you just made over $3650 :ahwow:

There are 60 minutes in a game

I'd like to see you play 60 minutes of hockey at the NHL level. :)

bobbinka 06-26-2014 10:10 AM

He's still in the game even if he's on the bench

Yeah, but then you're going into times where they aren't technically "playing".

So what's to exclude practice, off season training, community service, etc...?

PiuYi 06-26-2014 10:20 AM

alls i knows is the way NJ is treating schneids its unlikely he'll want to stay there either :lol

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 11m

Trade senses are on high alert. Starting to sound like Kesler deal is inching closer. Still working on destination, but next 24hrs, perhaps.
I really hate Dreger after the whole Luongo crap going to Toronto. but still news for Canucks.

murd0c 06-26-2014 11:06 AM

He was prob right with Lu to Toronto but Gillis fucked everything up.

Bouncing Bettys 06-26-2014 11:15 AM

Thank you Gillis

tmc22 06-26-2014 11:28 AM

Not really racist! 06-26-2014 11:31 AM

Dreger is always full of sh*t, he's helped his buddy in Toronto leak out false information before

Just this morning Benning said this, but of course it can change quick

Jim Benning on NHL Draft

Canucks GM Jim Benning met the media on Thursday morning in Philadelphia, ahead of Friday's NHL Entry Draft.

You can hear draft coverage at 4:00 Friday on TEAM1040, with Matt Sekeres and Blake Price live in Philadelphia.

The Canucks have the sixth overall pick in the draft, and while Benning continues to talk to teams about moving up, he also admitted the team is happy with the sixth choice.

"We're inquiring about what it takes to try and move up. We're happy at six - we think at six we're going to get a really good player that we like. But up til tomorrow when the draft starts, we'll keep inquiring about what it takes to move up and if we have the assets to make it happen."

Ryan Kesler's availability is a major issue for the Canucks. Benning continues to state that the Canucks are weighing all their options, but admitted that the trade deadline might be a better time to try to trade a good player.

"When you're dealing with a player of his stature at the trade deadline, is when you can really do well because those teams that feel that they're maybe one player away could possibly give you more than you'd get in the middle of summer when they're not playing hockey. We're not going to do anything that doesn't make sense for us as an organization."

Benning said he's not concerned about trading a player within the Western Conference.

And Benning also admitted that the Canucks are considering adding a veteran goalie before next season.

"We're going to look at all of our options on that. We've said before that we're happy with the progress that Eddie (Lack) made last year. But as free-agency comes up we're going to look at options, and if it makes sense for us, we'll do that."

Reports say the Canucks have already made contact with UFA's Ryan Miller and Jonas Hiller.

Not sure whether I agree with it or not, because there's pros and cons either way.

But I remember during the trade deadline, people were saying to hold off until the summer, because then you'll have all 29 teams as a possible option. Either way, this cycle could go on forever.

I don't think Schneider would have a problem coming back as the whole management got replaced.

trancehead 06-26-2014 12:18 PM

schneids could be out and test the waters. NJ looks lost, dont know if he wants to be with a non contending team for a while

fantasy case, he comes back and re signs

That and the concept of player agents immediately placed in a GM role was a poor decision.

Goalies play less than half the game unless they play for shit teams ... Goalies aren't doing fuck all when the puck is in the offensive and neutral zones ...

That was the rumour I think.

But do we really want a 29 years old goalie going to 30? He most likely want a long term contract with big money.

If lack performs well this year, I much rather go with lack.

So we traded Schneider and the entire city said we should've asked for more as he's a franchise goalie, etc etc... now that he could be had again, I read something as to why we would even want to sign him if he wants to come back?? all in a matter of 1 year lol...

I'm pretty sure he's only 28 years old as well.
