ITRs are so awesome and fun at the track. More should come out!

They did... years ago.

tegra7 04-03-2018 09:08 PM

Now most of them sit in a garage collecting dust with the owners hoping to cash out big one day.

twitchyzero 04-03-2018 09:12 PM

soon we're gonna be a buncha 50 year olds fighting for scraps from the 20th century :heckno:
except for the new CTR owners here...they're on the right track

PLUJ 04-03-2018 09:47 PM

I tracked mine last year and I'll be tracking this year as well. It'll be my first time at the Ridge...can't wait!

TouringTeg 04-04-2018 05:42 AM

^ I am jelly. I hope to go to VIMC again this summer since no ferry or hotel cost for me.

Amazingly all three LHD ITR on Vancouver Island are tracking still. Ray's PY is heavily modified and has been tracked for years. The other very modified 2001 CDM (forgot his RS name) autocrossed on Sunday.

No garage queens over here. However we will all be struggling for parts one day soon. Some are spending thousands to stock up on spares and rubber parts. Next on my list is windshield moldings and maybe quarter windows.

Prostrho 04-04-2018 11:26 AM

I'll keep tracking and driving mine. Type R are meant to be driven and this weekend was a perfect example of why it's such a usable car.

Took it to Vimc on Saturday for a track day jumping curbs and bouncing off the rev limiter. Then did a Tofino tour with my wife in it for the Easter weekend with enough space for all my tools and spare parts in the car along with our luggage. Took the ferry back on Monday night and i jump in it and I drive it to work on Tuesday. All it needed was a bit of oil and the car drove perfect in all conditions without a hiccup the while getting 8.5l/100km in normal driving.

OEMSiR 04-04-2018 01:59 PM

well just saw this... if anyone looking for easy swap...

VR6GTI 04-04-2018 02:29 PM

you could part the car pretty quick for more than 7500 easy

OEMSiR 04-04-2018 03:57 PM

exactly my thought but some doesn't have the patience for it lol

Iron Chef 04-05-2018 04:56 AM

I’m pretty sure I bought my spoon n1 off that guy couple years ago. At that time it was turbo charged and it was eating bearings. He was in the process of doing an engine rebuild. Guess he never finished the project.

Still tracking my R when i can. It’s the best way to enjoy them. It can still punch above its weight class on track.

Bye bye caR. It's been a slice. Nearly 15 years of ownership. Time to say goodbye. Happy to know you are in good hands. Last picture with the title still in my name.

thumper 04-05-2018 08:35 AM

what did you do?!?

VR6GTI 04-05-2018 08:41 AM

I want to click the fail button for white rocket :) Oh well you still have a mint ITR so i guess its not all bad. Did you sell it to someone local/revscene?

TouringTeg 04-05-2018 09:02 AM

I want to thank and fail. Congrats on the sale! Glad you found a buyer without even listing it.

There isn't a lot left that is true OG NA ITR so I think the price is too high. It's not even Championship White anymore. Front end gone. Original seats, steering wheel etc gone.

All you really get is a a true ITR chassis to start with and even then you would want it to be checked out to make sure it is straight. JDM front often means front end hit from what I have read.

Finally got around to having the jdm itr steering wheel installed that i got from white rocket. Also got a bran new jdm itr shift boot, titanium shift knob, oil cap, new oem front rebar mine was rusty as shit like most.

tofu1413 04-05-2018 10:35 AM

true OG NA ITR's are all sitting in garages or hiding under a rock.

i'd keep mine buried away too and let it be a sunday only driver too!

No you wouldn't, everyone has seen the number of cars that you've been through! :lawl:

tofu1413 04-05-2018 03:36 PM

its the impossible that i want:

$10k budget, unmolested ITR, in PY OR CW with ok kms (200 or so is ok)

(theres no such thing) :okay: id really keep it otherwise. out of the 49 cars i've been through so far, the ITR would be the one i'd keep as a second car now.

TouringTeg 04-05-2018 03:40 PM

There might be a near stock driver 200k+ out there for you around 15k. Used to see them on kijijijiji Alberta or Ontario.

White rocket we need more details. Is it staying in Vancouver?

OEMSiR 04-05-2018 08:18 PM

98 spec wheels are amazing, look mint!

Yes, it sold to a local buyer with whom I have known for a long time. One of the best possible scenarios for me. I'll let them chime in if they want.

The reason I sold it due to time and money constraints as this car was built to be used as a tool on the track and that costs time and money, which I don't really have anymore with kids and a mortgage. Constant maintenance and costs for tracking just aren't in the cards for me at this point in my life and it would have been a shame to just let it sit. It took a few months to come to that conclusion and once I did it was time to let her go.

I kept my 2000 #0768 as the forever car and will slowly refresh it over time(not that it needs anything really). I'd love to be part of the Japanese Collector Class at shows in a few years.
