wonder what the total sales number is...could it be like the Nintendo Wii U where it sold out on release but became a commercial failure?

tofu1413 05-14-2018 01:18 PM

i didn't go to track day....

but my car did :lawl:

ran strong all day. no brake fade. didnt burn oil. surface was too hot for the tires and it got greasy.

Very comfortable track day car, according to my buddy that borrowed it for the weekend.

Very fun street car so far. its comfortable, quiet and very compliant suspension. handles well, but the biggest draw back, unlike the rest of the R's is the body actually feels heavy.

aznboi128 - thanks for the pic!

Would be great to have a Type R meet in the lower mainland.

Talked to a long time owner of JDM 96 ITR on the weekend. He is taking good care of it. He traded plus cash for a better condition Recaro driver seat. Og 96 steering wheel just refinished.

The delete and lightness items are so cool. No clock, light in the hatch, rear wiper or rear speakers. The light weight carpet in the hatch is also neat.

tofu1413 05-14-2018 02:12 PM

yeah the Euro R is essentially a type R'ed engine car.

the rest around it besides seats and steering wheel is standard issue Accord. no diet regimen on it, so i guess its aimed to be a more compliant street car, like per say a BMW M sport car.

handles great. it rotates quite well. just unfortunately feels a bit heavy (not fair, as my benchmark is still the DC2 ITR....)

from the R# count on forums, it is already over 16 000.

for an expensive civic, they are selling well

Can also due to the color of the wheels and offset. I do think it look amazing on the fk8.

The new EVOII is a different design compared to the new SW388. Same manufacturer but again, a different design altogether. The spokes and windows look like shit on the new Spoons.

oldsnail 05-14-2018 03:18 PM

that is also a regular civic :(

Beautiful pic. Both red and white are so nice, but needs to be waxed and shiny all the time.

PLUJ 05-14-2018 07:44 PM

I'm down for a local Type R meet! Haven't really met any local ITR owners.

Somehow I don't think so. IMO as long as the 10th gen Civic hatchback is being produced, they will make CTRs in order to maximize profit. Doesn't seem like a smart financial decision to just make them for 2 years considering the cost of factory tooling, hiring staff, R&D, CTR
specific parts, marketing, etc. This ain't the Honda of the late 90s where they were okay with losing money on every Integra Type R that left the factory. Too many bean counters in this day and age for that.

If CTR sales aren't where Honda wants them to be, they can thank all of the helpful Honda dealers who are marking them up by $5-10k. A couple of dealers in the Southern Ontario area are selling USED Type Rs for $47-49k... gimme a break.

I hope that’s not true, as they’d be stupid to do that. The Evo no longer exists, the STi is stagnant. The focus RS is ending in 2018. That only really leaves the golf R and CTR in that middle class supercar segment. Audi RS3 and GLA45 are too expensive.

Sales numbers are already super strong, why not keep low production going

tofu1413 05-14-2018 09:23 PM

Pretty sure they'll run it along the same production as the 10th gen civic.

longer the run, they more itll pay off the R&D....

worst case is Nissan..... fricking Z has been almost unchanged since 2009.... (current ones probably cost them next to nothing to make... so many parts produced for it)

snake 05-14-2018 10:22 PM

I hope they end it in soon. Then I'll go buy it, since there will be less out there. Didn't think I'd like red CTR, but that ICB pic makes me want it.

twitchyzero 05-14-2018 11:36 PM

buy it if you like it
holding out because of a rumour that there will be less of it seems silly for a Civic

Completely agree. While these cars do offer some exclusivity, they have already produced far more in just 2 model years(2018 isn't even over yet) when compared to the total amount of DC2R's produced over their entire model run. The rarity is over now if you look at North America as a whole. Neat cars with great specs but not nearly as exclusive as the DC2R. No need to overpay for it either. Dealer mark-up is a fcuking joke on these cars and makes me dislike them even more.

The guys on ITRCA picked apart the 97 ITR with 14k miles. Front end looks to have been replaced, uneven panel gaps and no vin stickers. Seats look to be quite faded as well.
