Yep it’s the default Premuim class option in US if your branch is big enough to carry them.

If they’re smaller, they’ll upgrade you Luxury class: a G70 2.5/3.3 or a CT4.

Which airports or locations have them?

JDMDreams 09-09-2025 01:50 PM

How's that new if everything is the same. I wonder what hybrid will the drop in? 3.5 V6 gs450h to replace is500? And didn't the 500 just come out

AstulzerRZD 09-09-2025 01:51 PM

Avis:
Only saw Crown in Boston and Seattle... while every location I've been to has G70 or CT4/5.
Most ppl don't book Premium because it used to be 300 and Maxima.

Avis full size hybrid is unreliable: I've gotten shitboxes like Outlander PHEV, Hornet R/T, and some ok Prius, EV6, CR-V and Accord Hybrids.
I usually just book or ask for an EV: I know I'm going to get an EV6, Ioniq 5, or EQB.

Hertz
If you HAVE to have a hybrid Toyota, E6 class is all Camry Hybrid and rates are good.

New hybrid, IS500 gone.
New interior, LFA tach gone.
New adaptive suspension and steering.
New hands free self drive under 40kmh.

Still no fuel economy, power tailgate, heated steering wheel, nor heads up display.

Same shitty 6AT with transmission hump.
Same 2GR with slow 8AT.

Man toyota is like apple, like the new iphone 17 that dropped today they dont bother innovating anymore lol

AstulzerRZD 09-09-2025 02:45 PM

It's hard to innovate at Apple scale cuz they gotta have the supply chain to ship it to billions.

At least Apple are shipping dope shit in AirPods even if they're failing at AI.

- Airpods shipped live & paired translation shipped before Meta.
- Airpods with heart rate is a huge unlock if you don't want an apple watch.
- Find My and Messaging with satellite
- Apple Silicon had a 4 year lead (but now Intel/ARM getting close)

bcrdukes 09-09-2025 04:07 PM

BRB going to Boston

AstulzerRZD 09-09-2025 05:12 PM

Crown Hybrid Max is up against some pretty tough cars for highway fuel economy.
Wonder if the 2.4T is still rough & if the electric motor helps with torque.

Car and Driver's tests these for 320km at 120kmh:

- 540i xDrive: 37mpg or 6.3L
- Crown base: 36mpg or 6.5L

- G80 M3 Comp: 27mpg or 9L
- Crown max: 26mpg or 9L

trollface 09-09-2025 06:07 PM

I ordered the airpods, shits hot fire.

Badhobz 09-09-2025 06:18 PM

Psshh why so you can translate Engrish into Mongolian for your sensitive yak like ears ?

trollface 09-09-2025 06:31 PM

Highway isn't where the hybrid is good at though, it's city driving

ADAS gurus, perhaps AstulzerRZD can chime in:

what's the best traffic jam-assist available to us from automakers? for stanley causeway, knight st bridge etc in our typical overcast climate

subscription or camera only are dealbreakers so toyota and tesla are out

from my limited search: iDrive 8.5?

tier 1
BMW qualcomm DAPP with hwy assistant
Mercedes nvidia drive pilot, is there a sub-option to look for?

tier 2
GM
VWAG
Geely group

must resume autonomously after vehicle in front has stopped-- ideally smooth, not letting huge ass gaps nor phantom brake and doesn't require bunch of button presses and handful of conditions to activate

AstulzerRZD 09-10-2025 09:45 AM

Your list is great but it's more highway tiers.

In town:
- Toyota TSS3 esp in Prius which has hands free TJA. TSS4 is coming with RAV4.
- Autopilot (but limited to 10kmh over speed limit)
- Ford Bluecruise (same autosteer everywhere)
- MB whatever

^ you should check which ones "ding" you when the light turns green.
^^ and doens't TSS have radar?

Highway
- BMW DAPP w/ Highway Assistant
- Bluecruise

Avoid
- Supercruise because it doesn't work in exit lanes, randomly disables itself, and has shitty lane changes
- Drive Pilot because it's only in S/EQS in California and NEvada
- Eyesight because it's camera only
- Hyundai/Kia because lane centering keeps turning off
- Autopilot highway is super annoying with lane changes/nudging u
- Honda hella phantom brakes
- Rivian and Lucid

twitchyzero 09-10-2025 09:58 AM

most of the knowledge online is geared towards interstate long distance driving

aren't recent TSS in lexus/toyota are all subscription-based?

for around-town: which MB system/models should be looked further into if it's not the Drive Pilot?

based on your list, Ford is currently the most well-rounded?

edit: looks like everyone charges subscription lol; only BMW doesn't, at least for now (could pull the heated seats situation any day)

AstulzerRZD 09-10-2025 10:27 AM

You're really looking for BlueCruise.
Auto resume works for 30 seconds, hands free capable camera and radars, and one-time purchase option available.

MY25 Mach-E has latest cameras (BC 1.5) and I'm seeing 16k of incentives.
Premium AWD is the most popular spec but I like the GT/Rally model with MagneRide, Brembos, and Crossclimates.

Lightning also offers BlueCruise but the cameras are worse and the autoresume time is shorter.

If I were you I'd go on a rainy day to North Shore Auto Mall.
I think it comes down to how you want to buy it

Finance 40k?
- Toyota - finance 40k: Prius or 2026 RAV4 when it becomes available
- Ford: Mach E

Leasehack a demo?
- MB: W206 C Class
- BMW: i/5 series or X5 with DAPP

I'm pretty sure TSS is not subscription-based - if anything Toyota/Lexus market TSS/LSS as a standard feature for most of their new vehicles. AFAIK most if not all of the manufacturer's ADAS features are not subscription-based in North America - at most it is a one-time paid option.

The subscription component for many of these cars is for internet connectivity - used for phone app features like remote start / setting climate / seeing live traffic data in the in-car nav etc.

Seems like the hand free stuff requires the connected services.
Lexus has Advanced Teammate Drive and Toyota has Traffic Jam Assist - both are hands free up to 40kmh on supported highways.

There's no published map of the roads it supports.

hmmm!!! ching chong tariffs might be dropping due to Canadian farmers whining about nobody wanting their shit

JDMDreams 09-11-2025 06:34 PM

Do you really believe white people will do that?

Badhobz 09-11-2025 07:20 PM

White farmers vs white automakers. Round one. Fight !!!

Every time I see one on the road, I think "I can't believe someone is spending money on that"

Especially after this story https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a6...histleblowing/

Half of the Ocean's gadgets doesn't work anymore though because the API servers for which the functionality talks to is no longer there. The beauty of always connected cars. Fucking retarded.
