Daniel Sedin unknowingly takes helicopter ride with convicted smuggler | Vancouver Sun

Nabatron 01-10-2017 11:55 PM

sedins are losing it thats for sure so sad to see....

68style 01-11-2017 06:12 AM

We only Win games cuz of what the other lines do, they aren't producing and they're getting interfered with and pushed around like crazy by the other team's top pairing... Combine that with age... Well...

And I've always like Eriksson, but st this point it's safe to say that signing is looking about as bad as it could, he's not even creating anywhere nea the offense of that loser Vrbata in his first season and he looks almost as disinterested as Vrbata did in his second (last) season

SumAznGuy 01-11-2017 06:21 AM

Miller should have knocked the net off. :troll:

It's so hard for me to get through full games these days.

Watching Willie's on-ice decisions just frustrates me to the point of inability to take in games.

I can't believe this guy does coaching clinics. He's fucking clueless. I'd trust a random Canuck fan off the streets of the DTES over him.

I would trust any RS member on this thread to make better in-game management decisions such as line combinations and strategy adjustment within games than WD. No joke.

He's an NHL coach wannabe with minor league coaching ability.

Heck, any one on this thread could do a better job in improving the power play than WD! LUL

Third worst power play in the NHL.

Nabatron 01-11-2017 08:46 AM

the powerplay is a fucking joke...its like when that nasel fuck shorthouse says canucks to the powerplay everyone thinks this is just going to be another bullshit sedin to sedin back and forth bullshit. Honestly the pp dies when sedins get the puck to sum up the whole pp as a fan if I can read what they are going to do then I am pretty certain NHL caliber coaches, players, management know what they will do.

ie plays sedins do on pp....

#1. pass is back and forth from sedin to sedin then eventually fuck up and puck get sent down to the canucks end.

#2. force passes either across ice or into the slot when there is no play at all there other team gets the puck fires it down.

#3. the slap pass...Hank tries to force a slap pass to the slot either Dank, he tips in and goes wide, other team gets puck fires it down..AGAIN!

#4. Hank and Dank try to force a 2ft pass across crease back door to sven, edler, pretty much anyone who is LEFT handed...for the life of me I don't know why they wont put a Right hand shot on the left side for backdoor one times...obviously a coaching thing. I mean A good NHL caliber coach would figure this out after his shit power play was bottom of the league and maybe would change it up no?

Theres probably more stupid shit they do on the pp but yeah sums it up right there...

don't forget putting the twins out as the #1 unit.
Then they stay out for their 2 minute shifts and the second line gets no PP time.

6o4__boi 01-11-2017 09:30 AM

Will barely use Hansen in the PP when he's healthy.
Megna? He's got the speed and tenacity to be a regular PP guy.

:derp:

Nabatron 01-11-2017 09:54 AM

hahaha yeah I forgot about that...they use fucking megna an AHL signee on the pp and not Hansen because dumbass WD says he works better off the rush. You know who works good off the rush too is horvat but he still gets pp time. Don't get this bullshit WD deploys with the lines with balance scoring garbage. Like fuck load it up and try to produce offense with your best players...

The problem is that our list of best players does not match WD's list of best players...

dbaz 01-11-2017 10:07 AM

should just roll with horvat, baer, tryamkin, stetcher, and hutton/sutter on the pp. throw tryamkin in front of net and let the rest shoot a shit load

6o4__boi 01-11-2017 10:20 AM

makes too much sense for Willie...therefore, will not happen.

it's shit like that that drives me up the walls when i'm watching games
guy's like that idiot in the washroom trying to throw wet, wadded up paper towels to the ceiling hoping it sticks with his PP strategy and in-game adjustments.

SumAznGuy 01-11-2017 10:36 AM

I really can't stand listening to WD talk in his interviews.
Just sounds like he has no clue and is trying to think of something to say when he mumbles/studders and does the long pause or drags out the last vowel.
Worst part is all this coincides with his poor decisions which makes us question him more.
Oh yeah, JV needed his stuff. Right.
Play 5 D against the Flames and put Rodin in as a 13th forward and have him stapled to the bench.

Nabatron 01-11-2017 11:12 AM

^if WD knew he wasn't going to play rodin then he should have put boucher on there and have him play some shifts even tho he has had only one practice with the team. I mean pretty sure boucher hasn't forgot to play hockey lol

sonick 01-11-2017 11:25 AM

The Rodin situation sounded like it was a demand from management to put him in the line-up, but WD did not trust his play enough to warrant playing him as a 13th forward. Not having seen Boucher at all, I doubt he would've gotten any time either if he was a 13th forward.

At this point, Canucks are so fragile that every shift is make or break, WD is clinging to his job.

Liquid_o2 01-11-2017 11:56 AM

WD says he doesn't know what he has in Rodin, but didn't Rodin play the majority of training camp? And he scored a bunch of goals? What else does he want?

Nabatron 01-11-2017 12:08 PM

Rodin I think was a point a game guy in the pre season, WD had him for training camp and still doesn't know what he has in Rodin....how in the flying fuck is WD a coach in the NHL? Whos dick did he have to suck to get there shiiiiiieeet?

Ch28 01-11-2017 01:00 PM

The thing about Smegma that pisses me off is that he's not good enough to make the team at the start of the season, but now he's good enough to be 1st line duties and PP?

Get the fuck outta here

Ch28 01-11-2017 02:35 PM

Benning and WD were on TSN1040 today

Willie's comments:
When asked about Rodin and Boucher getting into the lineup:
  • "Who do you want to take out? ... Megna has been pretty good."
On Boucher:
  • "Haven't seen him enough."
On Rodin:
  • "Banged up" so he couldn't play last game.

Benning's comments:
Asked what drove the winning streak:
  • "Players have confidence in each other and the system."
  • Also mentioned structure and Miller/Markstrom being excellent.
Asked about Boucher and Rodin:
  • "Willie always looking to make team better."
  • Couple days ago Jim and Willie spoke about getting Rodin in on a "regular line" and PP time.
  • Been a tough go for Rodin with the injuries, coming in late.
Is Benning confident enough in Rodin/his knee to play him 12-15 mins a game?:
  • Rodin's knee had been "swelling up" since his last game, but will be available on Thursday
  • "Coaches decision if he gets in."
Asked about the upcoming draft class (post WJC):
  • He has rated/sorted all of the players from all leagues into a list.
  • Next, narrowing it down to 60 players.
  • Like the overall draft class, no standout superstars like last couple drafts.
  • Top 20 players in draft could be "Good NHL players ... 20 goal scorers."
  • Lack of depth in 4th/5th rounds, but really likes 1st-3rd rounds.
Asked about Hutton:
  • 2-3 weeks, possibly longer, week-to-week but worse than originally expected.
  • Wouldn't answer if it was a break or bruise, did say it's "more than a bruise." But that not surgery is not required.
  • Going through hand rehab therapy, will know more later.
Hansen's status?:
  • "2-3 weeks still."
Gudbranson?:
  • "No timeline, months."
  • Says he is an important young player, and figuring out a contract will be "no problem."
Tryamkin contract?:
  • Pro scout meeting coming up in a few weeks, will talk about all upcoming contracts then.
  • Excited about his development, getting more and more confident, likes Tryamkin long-term.
Asked about Virtanen's lack of production in the A:
  • Working hard off-ice.
  • "Sometimes the AHL is harder than the NHL" due to it's "more scrambly play." - LOL
  • Travis Green remains pleased with Jake's progress.
Asked what more Jordan Subban can do to get a call-up:
  • Talked about bringing him up this week, but he has a minor injury and is unavailable.
  • Mentioned that Subban will get an opportunity, but remained vague af.
Asked whether or not the recent play/first 40 games has impacted decisions about trade deadline/future:
  • Will always look to make the team better.
  • Traded picks in the past, happy with those players and how they are turing out.
  • Not looking to trade anymore picks going forward. :awwyeah:
  • Happy with where this group is overall.
  • Nothing about first 40 games will cause Jim to alter the course.
  • Agrees with Sekeres that the team will be a "let the chips fall" type of team at the deadline this year.
  • Jim likely won't be making a move unless a GM approaches him with something.

"Coaches decision if he gets in."

Pretty much means unless a forward gets injured, he'll never get in.

:lawl:

Horvat projected to be a reliable shut down bottom six player = exceeds expectations

Virtanen expected to be a power forward/physical scoring = bustttttt so far

maybe this is just the universe rebalancing

Mike Oxbig 01-11-2017 06:33 PM

virtanen is a bust why did we even chose him other than he was from Abbotsford?

PiuYi 01-11-2017 07:31 PM

^we choosed him because he had the potential to be a power forward with a decent set of hands

bobbinka 01-11-2017 08:25 PM

i'm surprised this hasnt happened to us yet with Willie

highfive 01-11-2017 10:18 PM

Virtanen is not a bust yet. Kid got size, speed, and skill to be a good player but it's his will to become that player is another question.

Hell...Horvat was close to one as well. Defensive centre. 3rd line guy.

He improved himself each year and he's an all star this year. Remember the first season where he grew muscle mass during the season. Look how much faster he is today.

Virtanen needs to understand that being good in junior doesn't mean you're good in the NHL. You need to fucking work for it. He can do the talk but can he do the walk?
