Not looking to argue semantics. I haven't read anything yet that indicates it was the refs that went back on their decision, and honestly don't care enough to look too hard given the NHL dept of player safety's track record.

IF it was the refs that rescinded 1 of the 2 game misconducts, it would either be for 3rd man in or leaving the crease. They can't lift the one for 3rd man in, rules are pretty clear. They could for leaving the crease which is typically a minor penalty, but then they would also have to rescind Anderson's leaving the crease for the same reason all things equal (ha!) which once again I have no indication that has happened and really don't care enough to look

Actually I was bored and did some quick googling.

I found NO mention of Rule 403b in the NHL rule book.

But this is 403(b) in the USA Hockey rule book: (b) For the second major penalty in the same game to the same player or goalkeeper, that player shall be assessed a game misconduct penalty in addition to the major penalty. The player or goalkeeper shall be suspended for his team’s next two games. This two-game suspension is in addition to any other required suspensions incurred during the same incident.

Kuzma is usually ok in my books, but not exactly sure what is going on here...

Jmac 11-06-2016 08:43 PM

Without having the rulebook handy on my phone, my guess would be he meant 40.3b.

UFO 11-06-2016 08:57 PM

Unlikely, as rule 40 pertains to abuse of officials

— Last week we had an item about Mike Gillis’s regime in which we opined the Canucks made too many mistakes on personnel decisions and at the draft table under Gillis’s watch but his insistence on playing a speed-and-skill game ushered in the most successful era in Canucks’ history.

That seemed like a fair assessment of the Gillis years and it certainly wasn’t meant to cause offence but the former Canucks GM didn’t think so. The next morning I got a text which read, among other things, “I will be happy to tell you personally next time I see you to go (perform an act which is biologically impossible).”
Gillis, not a fan of the Vancouver media :lawl:

Hansen on IR and back to Vancouver along with Tanev

Wouldn't be surprised if Daniel has post-concussion issues. Apparently he didn't even know he scored on the play until he was at the dressing room after concussion protocol.

Canucks call up Chaput

:fuckthatshit:
that lack of depth though

SumAznGuy 11-07-2016 08:01 AM

So now the Honey Badger is on IR and along with Tanev is back in Vancouver.

Kilinim 11-07-2016 08:03 AM

Early game today. Puck drop at 4pm.

MG1 11-07-2016 09:37 AM

You know what? I'm actually looking forward to watching the game. Sucker for punishment, I guess. No expectations and ready for a good laugh.

Done crying over the VanHoover Cannots decades ago............. at least when they suck, they really suck. No half way with this team.

Problem isn't with NHL DoPS, it's the rulebook - Article - TSN

Bob McKenzie weights in on the DOPS call for no suspension

Trouba back on a 2 year bridge at $6 million total.

Good deal for Jets.

Cheap salary makes it easy for Jets to trade him to a contender if they wish to.

6o4__boi 11-07-2016 11:42 AM

Have to wonder if it'll turn out to be a sign and trade

I could buy that if the DoPS didn't have such an exemplary and consistent track record.

jeff blair of sportsnet on the hit

"Have to admit I love seeing the Canucks — whose past employing of cheap shot artists such as Raffi Torres and current employing of Alexander Burrows is one reason so many people dislike the team — whining about getting some of their own medicine. What a sorry, sorry group."

6o4__boi 11-07-2016 12:50 PM

sportsnet journalist

highfive 11-07-2016 02:11 PM

Sportsnet full of irrelevant media guys anyways.

Spector came out with how the Canucks should rebuild. Used Edmonton as example. Lol

I guess they if they didn't win the mcdavid lottery, they prob in the same boat right now.

Fact is there is no one way to make your team competitive. Meats and potatoes, analytics, rebuild by tanking, retooling etc.

Every year, you have 4 ways to make your team better than last. You get to pick 7 new prospects, add through ufa, add through college free agency, or through trade.

Benning so far did more on trades than drafting. Sad because I was excited for him as our gm because of his scouting background.

6o4__boi 11-07-2016 02:38 PM

Lol Skille in over Virtanen tonight

How to fuck up a prospect 101 continues

punkwax 11-07-2016 02:48 PM

Virtanen is fucking himself over at this point. If he doesn't start hustling he's probably gone. .
