Lol Hammer was on record saying he was willing to waive...so yeah that move (or non-move) by Dim Jim was certifiably stupid and indefensible no matter which way u slice it.

So no. We didn't forget. Jim Benning is a certified moron and were pretty much the laughing stock of NHL management league wide. Yes. That includes the coilers.

Devastator 06-26-2016 10:37 AM

By the time Hammer decided to wave his clause it was too late, the other teams already decided to go a different direction and it was too late.

Hamhuis wanted to take a few days to evaluate whether to waive his NTC, while other teams were expecting an answer within that day.

He took his sweet ass time to decide.

also that aquilini wanted more from Dallas because of who the owner was. horrible fucking business man

future isn't tooo bad. under 25 players
prospective top 6 prospects/young players: Horvat, Baertschi, Boeser, Virtanen.(boeser the only one who might have top line potential)
bottom 6 prospects/young players: Cassels, gaunce, lockwood, granlund
top 2 d prospect: juuolevi
top 4d prospect/young player: Hutton, brisebois, candella, tryamkin, gudbranson
pp specialist prospect: subban, stetcher
1g prospect: demko

Devastator 06-26-2016 01:04 PM

And with Vrbata, the guy packed it in long before the trade dead line. Who in their right mind would even give a bag of pucks for him. Sure we could of traded him in the off season. Everyone thought he would be a good team player and just play. But im guessing no one anticipated he was going to pout and just ride his 5 million dollar salary. So let's forget about this "team player" and move on and not mention it

Think it's still early to write off Horvat and virtanen as having top line potential.

highfive 06-26-2016 06:43 PM

It's still early to write off any prospects as top line potential. Remmeber... The Sedins were sisters who would never be more than second liners. Kesler is a 3rd line checking centre at best.

I believe that every player who makes it to the NHL has decent skills and can score at a certain level, it's a matter of their character and their willingness to work hard and make the next step. Every top players out enormous efforts in the offseason to get better. Unless your name is evander Kane.. Lol jk. He does put work in the offseason I think. He's always at Richmond ice centre.

Doubt that he's focused on hockey this off-season when he's being accused of physically harassing 2 women at a bar a few days ago lol

Bylsma not pleased to see Kane back in negative headlines | theScore.com

Mike Oxbig 06-26-2016 08:34 PM

Kane is destined to be in Las Vegas

Kovalev :fuckthatshit:

Anyways, yeah, most players you really don't know what you have until they're well into their 20s.

6o4__boi 06-27-2016 07:21 AM

some tidbits

sources saying Lucic unlikely to sign in Van (thank god)
Canucks have some interest in Vanek...will pursue big names in Free Agency and will circle back to Vanek if unable to land any of the big names.

Have to think Canucks will be going all in Lucic/Eriksson though...doesn't seem to be much interest in Okposo.

IIRC, when I did the math, we would've only saved about $0.3M by buying out Burrows instead of Higgins because of the contract structure differences.

No more My Higga memes :okay:

highfive 06-27-2016 11:02 AM

Best news today is Glenn Healy and pj stock gone next season! Sportsnet let them go. Lol woooo!

6o4__boi 06-27-2016 11:48 AM

But it makes the most sense of the 2 because Higgy only has 1 year left on his contract while Burrs has 2 years left.
So cap hit wise, the difference isn't there, but for term 2 years for Higgies vs 4 years for Burr's contract.

Pat Quinn into the Hall of Fame today

Emerson Etem re-signs a year deal with the canucks

burrows has 1 year left. but his buyout would be more because of salary. possibly because he's 35+ now as well?

etem qo at 775k is decent.
Brett Connolly didn't get a qo offer from bruins. would be interesting if we could acquire his rights and get him in the AHL next year to centre virtanen

Definitely has nothing to do with his age because the contract was signed before he was 35.
You are right, Burrs only has 1 year left on his contract.
I guess it was a hockey move.

Brett Connolly is a RW
...and a 6th overall pick like that other local boy...
and also injury-prone
:fuckthatshit:

i wouldn't mind Landon Ferraro as a 4th line centre at the right price
