IMO the layoffs at news papers are a sign of things to come for outlets like sports radio, people are turning more and more to blogs, forums, twitter, etc. for their news and opinion peices.

Hell, i only watched a handfull of games this year but i've all but stopped using twitter as well because i dont care to read more "anaylysts" opinions anymore. I'd rather come here and read a few posts, watch highlights, and form my own opinion then hear the poison out of the mouth of the skeleton Ghallager or Botchford. The sooner people like that are gone the better imo.

I'm pretty much just on here and www.reddit.com/r/canucks and www.reddit.com/r/hockey

You'd be surprised at how well informed and written some of the posts on r/canucks and r/hockey are.

He's been gone since Neil Macrae passed.

I asked Sat this morning and his response was "he's just away but will be back" sounds like someone died which makes sense why he's been gone for so long.

Hondaracer 04-12-2017 07:04 AM

Everyone at 1040 got depression problems

It's going to be interesting to see what TSN does with 1040 and 1410. Honestly, I only listened to 1040 for the hockey. With them losing the rights to the Canucks games, that means there will be a new sports radio station, kinda like with 980 lost the rights 11 years ago.
The station is still around but they do nothing with sports.

6o4__boi 04-12-2017 08:33 AM

guessing 1040/1410 will go all in on the Whitecaps, CFL and Soccer in general
they've been doing Champion's League for a while now, they'll probably double down on some Whitecaps stuff as well.

dbaz 04-12-2017 08:36 AM

they will prob get rid of one of the stations and the new station will take a bunch of people from 1040/1410

plz not jake

highfive 04-12-2017 09:59 AM

New Canucks radio needs new blood. No more of the old farts talking about what theydid this past weekend and laugh like hyenas or guy with a nasal ass voice talking shit all morning.

Both. Tony G should just stay retired and not work.

He also said the Canucks is a great organization where there will be lots of players to hang out with him on the IR. lol JK

Whose betting what on playnow?

I put a bet on Patrick Kane to score 7+ and hawks to win.

On the Steve Dangle Podcast they were discussing the Preds/Hawks match up and thinking it may be closer than people think. What they were suggesting is that Chicago's stats are a bit skewed because they have a lot of 3 on 3 points/wins, which won't even be a factor in the playoffs. The Preds 5 on 5 stats are almost on par with the Hawks. I haven't had a chance to look at all the stats but I'd be a little tempted to select the Preds in my bracket.

Hmmm.

Yeah but you can't deny that there are teams that just elevate their entire game altogether and go monster mode.

The kings, pengs, hawks are great examples.

if Jim Benning agreed to step down and be the Head Scout for the Canucks
would you hire Dean Lombardi as GM?

For sure! I would hire Lombardo as GM. He's got a winning record to prove it. Two Stanley cups with the Kings in the past 5 years as the Kings GM.

Lombardi trade for "Dry Island" inhabitants Mike Richards and Jeff Carter helped the Kings to become legit Cup contenders. :lawl:

Then he hired Sutter to coach the team to play a grinding type of system that helped them win championships.

This tweet says it all about loyalty being a part of Lombardi's success with the Kings. I don't know about you but I don't think many NHL players visit their former GMs after the big boss fires a GM.

Pierre LeBrun
✔ ‎@Real_ESPNLeBrun

As @GMillerTSN noted, also hearing how some Kings staff and players went to Lombardi's place last night to say goodbye... strong bonds

When you can get your players and other staff to support you even after you are fired, that says something about the way Lombardi managed the team and treated players. Strong bonds, bruh.

6o4__boi 04-12-2017 02:15 PM

though it can be argued that Lombardi is the reason that Kings are pretty much fucked with big contracts for the next little while.

but if that's the price to pay for a couple of cups, i'd do it. I'd happily see the Canucks shit themselves for a decade afterwards with shitty contracts if it meant winning a Cup. :okay:

Another question you can ask is whether Lombardi would want to be the Canucks GM given the past history of Aquaman micro managing trades. Example: Dan Hamhuis trade to Dallas. :fuckthatshit:

"Full autonomy". Sure, Aquaman!

Bouncing Bettys 04-12-2017 03:06 PM

I forgot how exciting playoff time is. The most recent years, I have spent my time cheering against certain teams.

EA have nashville over montreal in the stanley cup finals for their playoff simulation...that's quite a bold prediction

Almost all of the series have it going to game 7.

so many analysts have Oilers going far. Even some saying to the finals...
I know they got McDavid and all...but come on.
