Was reading through some old articles trying to remember what Linden said about Kassian and found this gem.

Quote:

After the feel-good regular season of 2014-15, the competence of Linden and his hockey department has become a matter of public debate. The faithful look around and see the Canucks losing ground in the Western Conference. They see their team trying to stay competitive while it gets younger. Then they see the trading of popular players and the firing of popular executives and conclude the Canucks are on the verge of disaster.

Linden, predictably, doesn’t see things that way.

“I think we can be better,” Linden says. “I think our goaltending can be better. I think our D can be better. We lost some goals up front and we need a Baertschi, a Horvat and maybe Vey to fill in those gaps. But we like our young players.

“We’re going to have four or five young forwards with Corrado and Clendening and Markstrom. And this is going to continue.”

He says the Lack and Kassian deals were dictated by the market, and while you can question those moves, you can’t question the return. He says the front-office purge and the dismissal of Burnstein was made for the sole purpose of improving the organization.
Fans were right and management was wrong on literally every move that season. What a fucking disaster.

If you can be a pro hockey player and be a raging alcoholic, you can be an amazing hockey player if you manage to not be an alcoholic. I never thought I'd be so happy to have Kassian on my team.

The series isnt over yet, but holy fuck does Martin Jones ever need to work on his 5 hole.

XplicitLuder 04-16-2017 10:10 PM

Maybe if they scored the 5hole wouldn't matter as much :troll:

highfive 04-16-2017 10:16 PM

Kassian is another grabner. Wasn't able to get his head to work hard and play. Both took couple teams to wake them up. Grabner waived by Florida. Kassian accident in Montreal.

I just worry virtanen isn't the one on the list

The Burnstein firing was one of the biggest WTF moves around. He's one of the most respected guys in the league and they dump him like nothing.

possibly due to his questionable diagnosis of injuries regarding back injuries in Cody Hodgson..and... Zack Kassian

but still..very big WTF...

Mike Oxbig 04-17-2017 12:02 AM

Virtanen will get traded and eventually become a power forward

I think you're confusing what a trainer is responsible for and what a doctor/medical team is responsible for. A trainer is more like a paramedic; first aid, treatment of minor injuries, emergency response, preliminary diagnosis, etc.

Also, regarding Kassian, I doubt it was a misdiagnosed injury that was keeping him out of the lineup late in 2014-2015 given what we learned after the truck accident.

Ryan Millers home for sale https://www.rew.ca/properties/R21461...erty_click=map

Jmac 04-17-2017 02:32 PM

He played well this year, probably earned himself another contract. Would be interesting to see if he signs with Vegas as that would be closer to his family and no customs to clear.

I wouldn't be opposed to bringing him back at the right price and term, but they're paying Markstrom starter money next season, so that makes it complicated.

Condo for sale doesn't necessarily mean he's leaving, either. He could have a condition in the terms of sale to back out if he signs a new contract with the Canucks. Unlikely but still.

Oh how I loathe Leafs fans today. They get the split in D.C and all of sudden their planning the parade lol Can't wait to leave the mistake-on-the-lake!

highfive 04-17-2017 05:20 PM

Can't hate the leafs though. They're playing their kids. Taking chances and scoring. It's pretty damn entertaining. Lol
