I like this Makes a lot of sense hiring a coach that makes the most of what he has and has a connection with the younger Canucks. Worked out well with Vigneault (though he did have prior NHL exp). Green is the best coach to rebuild. |
If Green is not Benning's first choice as the new coach, who did Dim Jim want to hire? :considered: Lindy Ruff? Dan Bylsma? Crow? There's quite a few coaches available now. |
Now they should focus on associate/assistant coaches that can run the PP Any eligible names out there? |

Who cares about the coach, its all about the draft on Saturday! |

Murph says 4yr deal for Green. Can we start the Ryan Johansen to Vancouver rumors now? Winterhawks connections |
^Can you post up your sources in regards to who Benning and Linden wanted. |

If Canucks don't get top 2 in this draft...fuck. That said, I'm bracing for 5th anyway, bad luck is all I've ever known as a Canucks fan. |

supposedly nolan baumgartner will be an assistant with the canucks |
Baumgartner is nice and all but I was hoping they'd bring in someone with experience in the NHL or at least some Special Teams specialty. There's still a spot for an associate coach I guess. quick search on AHL stats showed Utica was ~20 in special teams out of 30...though Utica had shit all last year so being low middle is pretty respectable. |

WTF is with NHL teams giving inexperienced coaches 4 year deals? |
Apparently they believe in him. |

Seems like the starting ask from FA Coaches (a la Ruff, Hitchcock, Sutter) is a 3-4 year contract. If Canucks wanted to give someone that term, they were better off with a quantity they know vs someone external. For the most part, I agree. Gives him a bit of a piece of mind cus the first couple years will be dog shit at best. |
Noticed Hawks are cleaning house and fired their AHL coach Thought maybe he'd be a good fit as the Utica coach then saw this gem http://www.secondcityhockey.com/2017...rd-icehogs-ahl Quote:

Canucks games are gonna be broadcast on Sportsnet 650 starting this autumn. Team 1040 is going down. :victory: Rogers to launch all-sports radio station in Vancouver - NEWS 1130 One of Canada’s largest and most passionate sports markets is about to get a lot more premium sports content, as Sportsnet will launch a new, all-sports radio station — Sportsnet 650 — in Vancouver this fall. Rogers Media will acquire the Vancouver AM station CISL from Newcap Inc. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Newfoundland Capital Corporation Limited), subject to approval from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), and will change the station’s format to all-sports. The transaction is expected to close in summer 2017. “We are excited to build upon our strong radio brands in the Vancouver market. With Vancouver being such a passionate sports town, there is a strong appetite for all-sports radio that delivers engaging conversation, wide-ranging opinion, and top-tier live sports content,” said Julie Adam, Senior Vice President of Radio, Rogers Media. Sportsnet 650 will have year-round top-tier sports content, including Vancouver Canucks and Blue Jays games, plus the MLB post-season. Additional programming details and on-air personalities will be announced in the coming months. “Vancouver has an incredibly loyal fan base, and this is a natural fit to expand our Sportsnet offering,” said Scott Moore, President of Sportsnet, Rogers Media. “Sportsnet has been strongly committed to the Vancouver community since the network’s inception in 1998 when we first began televising Canucks games.” Sportsnet 650 marks the third all-sports radio station for Sportsnet, alongside stations Sportsnet 590 The FAN in Toronto and Sportsnet 960 The FAN in Calgary. Senior Vice President of Sales of Rogers Media Al Dark says, “Sportsnet is Canada’s number one sports brand, and we are thrilled we have another platform for our advertisers to reach their target audiences.” The AM 650 station will continue to be broadcast in its current format until Sportsnet 650 radio launches in the fall. |
I wonder who's going to jump ship and go to Rogers from 1040 |
Don Taylor |
Didn't sportsnet fire Taylor? Or did he quit? |
