wasn't able to get one =(

twitchyzero 09-08-2017 06:20 PM

they probably haven't seen this much action in the past decade combined EleGiggle

TouringTeg 09-10-2017 06:08 PM

The source completely locked up at 9am until about 330pm when they pulled the SNES page down. I don't think anyone was able to order. Apparently they had 300 units but were hit hard by bots. They might try again this week.

The crazy thing is London Drugs put more preorders up at exactly 9am Friday as well and some lucky people got those. Argh!

Toys R Us tweeted this morning that they were going to do a midnight release. Less than that an hour later they changed their minds. They will have them in store only on release day.

Last year I was lined up outside Toys R Us at 830 am for 1000am opening and had no problem getting a NES Classic. Way more demand for the SNES Classic this time around.

Both the Metrotown and Landsdowne stores are located inside the mall without any outdoor-facing entrances. How did the mall accommodate the early line ups? I suppose they just let you get indoors first, and then line up outside the store (but still in the mall)?

It's a decade ago. But back when I lined up for the Wii at the Metro location. They told people to wait by the mall entrance (the one close to customer service where there's a parking lot). When the mall opened, it was a mad dash down the escalator towards ToysRUs. The store would then distribute some numbers for whatever inventory they had.

Hopefully they've improved the process. People were pretty aggressive going down that escalator, surprised nobody got hurt.

At Mayfair Mall Victoria last year the mall opened it's doors about 8am to let people in to line up at the store of their choice. There was not as much demand for the NES Classic and nobody knew how touch it was going to be to get your hands on one. Some never got one before they were discontinued and remember what they went through. Mall opened at 8am. I lined up at 830am. A rep came out at about 9am to hand out vouchers. At 10am the actual store opened so you could purchase.

There were line ups at both EB Games and Toys R Us inside the mall. I've talked to reps at both and they said they will have someone there early to hand out vouchers. I am still not clear on if the malls will be open early so you can just line up outside the store of your choice.

Apparently for shoe releases someone comes outside to hand out vouchers so there isn't a mad dash and potential for injury.

Costco.ca preorders went live at 10am and sold out in 5 mins. Damn bots.

Nintendo News: Nintendo Increases Inventory of Super NES Classic Edition; NES Classic Edition Returns to Stores in 2018 | Business Wire

Mr.Money 09-12-2017 08:21 PM

kinda wishing nintendo would be smart to at least load one store with 500 just to really screw over the re-sellers....flood the market.

TouringTeg 09-13-2017 10:19 AM

I'll believe the inventory increase when I see it on Sept 29th.

I'm guessing there will be two controllers included in the next NES Classic release. Possibly different games.

GC8 09-13-2017 11:10 AM

Just like any hot item these days or in the past the creators love the demand.. its great marketing. The fact that we are talking about it now proves it haha Like some said lets see if they actually increase inventory

TouringTeg 09-15-2017 06:31 PM

Euro version available right now (pre order). In English and all the same games. About $139 CAD and likely no duty coming from someone who ordered one from them from Canada last year.

Tried paying with PayPal also but got redirected some where else on their website.

Paid by credit card also.

Traum 09-17-2017 05:01 PM

You guys know if the French unit is compatible with our TVs as well? Or does that no longer matter now that we are using HDMI and stuff?

twitchyzero 09-17-2017 06:52 PM

power is through USB so no worries
yes HDMI eliminates the PAL/NTSC non-sense

TouringTeg 09-17-2017 06:53 PM

^ x2 It is HDMI so it works fine. The euro version doesn't come with a power cord so you just need an standard micro adapter to hdmi. Then one of those USB to your outlet adapters. Pretty much the same as any Samsung phone etc.

It's pretty much the super famicom that Japan is getting.

twitchyzero 09-18-2017 01:44 PM

Japan is getting different games
and it's all in Japanese

Koflach 09-19-2017 09:25 PM

just checked the Fnac website to see if they still had them and they increased their price to 299 euro's...
